1977 Toyota Celica ST Description
Very clean 40-year-old classic with 220,000 miles (i.e., 5,500 miles per year). Second owner but my beloved first car! Manufactured in April 1977. Bought used at ~4 years old with 31,612 miles and meticulously cared for. Specifications: 2189 cc SOHC 20R engine (original stock) rated at 95 horsepower with tight compression in all four cylinders, 2-barrel carburetor (replaced April 2016 at 214,200 miles), 4-speed synchronized manual transmission (original), straight-piped exhaust and stripped "clean" emission-control equipment (i.e., no catalytic converter and no emission-control junk), power front disc brakes, transistorized ignition, wall-to-wall cut-pile carpet (original and in very good shape), high-back dual reclining front bucket seats with sheepskin seat covers, color-keyed vinyl interior (a bit torn in the back seat and worn on the upper interior window sills), tachometer, clock, and instrumentation (all original and fully operational); after-market Alpine AM/FM radio, casette deck, and single-disc CD player; wood-grain dash and full console; wood-grain steering wheel (original) and shifter (Toyota high-end after market); tinted glass and day/night mirror; resettable trip meter; power-boosted flow-through ventilation; front and rear bumper guards; chrome front and rear bumpers in very good shape; air conditioner removed to boost horsepower; modified for 215 60 SR14 custom tires on all four wheels; B.F. Goodrich Radial T/As with raised white letters installed new July 2014 at 212,700 miles; original stock "Beige" body paint in good shape; body has some rust around wheel wells and locally on rocker panels. Comes with full service records, original window sticker, original owner's manual, and original full-sized spare tire/wheel. Kept in garage except for short commutes (~6 miles per day) between home and work and never driven during winter months. Must see and test drive it to fully appreciate it!
May 2015 (at 214,067 miles) and April 2016 (at 214,193 miles) replacements/maintenance: 1) New carburetor specifications: Weber Conversion Kit T-K746; 2) new radiator and water hoses; 3) new distributor cap and rotor; 4) new Bosch spark plugs; 5) compression pressure cylinders 1 through 4: 120, 120, 125, and 120 psi; 6) new front crankshaft seal; 7) new distributor-shaft "O" ring; 8) flushed clutch fluid; 9) flushed brake fluid; 10) new exhaust pipe; 11) new muffler; and 12) new air cleaner. Battery replaced with high-end Die Hard April 2017 at 218,120 miles.
