1985 Toyota Celica Supra MkII P-Type, Recent Maintenance, Upgrades, 5-Speed
1985 Toyota Supra Supra MkII P-Type Description
This is a 1985 model year P-type Toyota Celica Supra, made in October of 1984. The sunroof is a dealer-installed option. 5-Speed manual transmission. Maintenance I have had performed is a new radiator has been installed, new Michelin all-season tires all around, new alternator, timing belt done at 165k miles, new windshield, new battery, rust repair around the windshield, oil change, and new rear engine seals. The car was detailed for pictures last week. The assumed original jack is present. Everything works, including, but not limited to, power windows, power sunroof, all external lights, power mirrors, heat, A/C has been removed, front and rear wipers, seat adjustment, headlights, taillights, fog lights, reverse lights, blinkers, running lights, it is assumed the rear window and mirror defrosters work, and is assumed the cruise control works. Things that do not work are listed in the issues section. A treasure trove of spare parts are included in the sale, including two driver side taillights, ash tray, radiator shroud, dash lighting dial, fog light switch, rear wiper switch, wiper control module, door control module, several various relays, coil with igniter (ignition coil I believe), speed control module, cruise control switch, rear window defroster switch, A/C panel, engine control module, power window motor, sunroof switch and light with housing, radio surround, a mudflap, OEM shifter knob (looks like current knob but in new condition), hood shocks, side rear lights, and more. It is unknown if any/all the spare parts are in working order. Please continue reading for conditions and more details. Feel free to ask questions, or for more pictures!
History of the car since new:
I know rather little, except that the owner before me was a certified Toyota mechanic, and treated it like his child. He did a number of the upgrades to the vehicle detailed below. I bought it 4 months ago, and have gotten all the issues worked out of it. I've done a lot of maintenance, getting it up to snuff, and sorted. It should be ready to go another 80k miles with just normal maintenance.
Modifications/Upgrades/Originality:
The vehicle is cosmetically mostly original. The only cosmetic modifications I know of is the new Grant GT steering wheel and new radio which includes a CD player. Mechanically however, it has several upgrades. It has a stiffer suspension, anti-sway bars, front and back, custom short shifter, and upgraded clutch, all installed by the previous owner.
Current Issues:
The only mechanical issue, is that all A/C components have been removed in order to reduce weight. The heat still works however. Brake fluid could be replaced. There is some minor rusting present. There is some minor damage just aft of the passenger side front wheel well on the bottom of the body (pictured). The center console map light does not work. The sunroof switch works, but is loose. A spare switch is included in the sale. The panel covers for the electric mirrors on each door is included, but not installed. The drivers seat has one or two cigarette holes, and the doors and dash have some minor cracking. The hood shocks could be replaced, as they slowly lose their compression, spares are included. The side skirt molding is missing on both sides. There is some paint issues, mainly on the rear bumper, and some minor issues elsewhere. The passenger door pocket is missing. The seat belt holder on the drivers seat is broken off, which is a common issue in this model. The radio works, however when the battery was replaced, it reset it, and I do not know the code. I am told the code can be reset. The tachometer only works once warmed up.
Rust:
There is some minor rusting on the bottom of the rear hatch, minor rust on both the passenger and driver sides of the front upper portion of the car, just fore of the headlights, some rust on the sunroof, on top of the windshield, bubbling around the windshield wipers, and bubbling around the gas door, as well as some rust on the driver side on the rear hatch, just above the taillight. Some minor rust on the bottom of the body underneath the doors. I've tried to include photos of the rust areas.
Service Records:
Most, if not all, service records of work that I have had done are present, prior to my ownership, records are nonexistent.
