1997 VW GTI VR6
1997 Volkswagen Golf GTI VR6 Hatchback 2-Door Description
I'm selling a 1997 VW GTI VR6
Right now, the car has a coolant leak. If you drive it for more than 15-20 minutes the car will start to overheat. If you drive on the highway the car doesn't overheat as quickly, but in stop-and-go traffic, you're gonna smell maple syrup.I took the car to a dealership to get an estimate on how much it would be to repair the coolant leak. They quoted me over $3000.
Also, the car just developed a battery drain. I bought a battery and it went dead in a couple weeks. Car is dead.
Car was in a minor accident in the past. I don't have pictures of the accident, but I have receipts from the repairs. Car needs an alignment and the drivers door needs a little extra "Oomph" to close.
Only about 2 months ago I had an all new air-conditioning unit put in the car (I have the receipt). So, when the car runs, the people stay cool but the engine gets hot.
I have receipts for the car from the past 17 years (from when the car had 10,000 miles on it). They are in a binder. I can upload the photos upon request. They will be included in the sale.
The interior is remarkably clean for a car with 143,000 miles on it. However, as shown in the pictures, there is some wear. The steering wheel is showing wear. The shifter is coming apart. The plastic trim by the ignition is duct taped. I believe it is duct taped because of the bluetooth microphone that sits on the dash.
Sadly, the previous owner ripped out some of the insulation from the floor. They were kind enough to replace it with Dynamat. They also replaced the factory exhaust. The car now has a Magnaflow. Full disclosure: This car drones. Friends knew when I arrived because they could hear the car. The car has been chipped. I have the original ECU in a box. I also have some spare parts, some fluids, and a repair manual. It will all be included in the sale.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
