1996 Volkswagen Passat TDI Wagon 4-Door Description

Every once in a blue moon a unicorn appears to the patient consumer! You've been patient & now is your chance to own one of the rarest & most sought after TDIs ever manufactured. TDI Passat wagons were only available 4 yrs total (04 & 05 when they were only available in an auto trans) and 96 & 97 when fewer then 1000 were sold in the US market. This particular model & body style otherwise referred to as the B4V came exclusively w/5 spd trans the revered 1Z or AAZ mtr arguably the best TDI mtr ever produced by VW. Paired w/the 5 spd manual trans this drivetrain has proven to be the most efficient, reliable & long lived of any of the subsequent drivetrains installed since the mid 90s. With a whopping 25 gal fuel tank (one of the largest of any passenger vehicle) and largest interior cargo volume of any of the newer wagons make this particular model particularly desirable.
This one has lived it's entire life in an airplane hangar in southern CA owned, driven & meticulously maintained & serviced by an airline pilot that recently passed away. This B4V is almost immaculate inside & out with every interior trim piece intact, no stains or tears in any of the upholstery and ALL electrical interior lights & mechanical systems working as they did when the car rolled off the assembly line in Wolfsburg 20 yrs ago. The exterior is equally exceptional w/no signs of the typical clearcoat peel or color fade. No door, fender,quarter panel damage ever. The only detectable dimple is in the lower edge of the rear hatch below the license plate and is almost unnoticeable unless your running your hand across the hatch. It's very hard to notice unless your looking at it closely from the right angle. Tires have approximately 7/32nds tread left are correctly sized & all match. The car handles and performs as it should (recently resealed the Injection pump as it was just starting to leak during the last 1000 miles & was able to dial in the injection timing perfectly which equates to superior efficiency, acceleration and performance) The undercarriage of the car has no corrosion and is in amazingly clean condition for it's age and mileage (I've got lots of images of all four brake calipers & exhaust that I'd be happy to share w/the enthusiasts that request to see them) I didn't have the possibility of posting as many images as I'd like to fairly represent the car as it should be but happy to share images of anything and everything that you'd like to see.
