2001 Volkswagen Beetle-New GLS Description
Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2001 VW Beetle GLS with just 63k miles on the odometer. When I bought this car, it was a ONE OWNER New Car Trade. Someone at the dealership made a mistake on the mileage. The odometer is showing 63,XXX but the title showed 68,XXX...so apparently somebody, somewhere doesn't know the difference between a 3 and an 8 (which I could see messing up at a glance, as the two numbers are similar). In the interest of not having a conflict, I chose to mark the miles as "exempt" when I changed it onto a PA title (any vehicle more than 10 years old is exempt from odometer disclosure, this is a Federal Law). I don't suspect any fraud...but I want to give full and complete disclosure on my end. I would rate the exterior of this Beetle to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking bug. It is finished in black over tan, which is a good color for one of these. The black finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and hatch all open and close easily. The factory alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in nice rubber with good tread all around. All of the glass and lenses are intact. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. I would also rate the interior of this Beetle to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The carpets show well for their age and are full looking throughout the interior. The dash and headliner show well, too. As with any older car with light interior, there are a few marks and such from age...but nothing awful. The power windows, locks and mirrors all work properly. The audio system is original and sounds good. The climate control system appears to be in full working order. The heater works well and the air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR, too. The cargo area is spacious and clean. This Beetle still has the original flower / vase. Both front seats are heated and the leather seats show very well for their age. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this Beetle appears to be in good running and driving condition. I bought this Beetle for a very specific reason. In addition to the low miles and being clean, this Beetle has the desirable 2.0L engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. It's widely known that VW cannot make a good automatic transmission...which is why you almost never see me having automatic VW's for sale. I rarely buy them. This Beetle runs like a top. The 2.0L engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older vehicle. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine makes good power and feels strong. Other than an airbag light, there have been no idiot lights on during my road test. The clutch engages smoothly and does no slip or chatter. Gear changes through the five speed manual transmission are clean and precise, as they should be. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. These 2.0L's run forever and require minimal maintenance. I've personally seen these engines go well into the 200's. I've personally known two people to drive them decent distances with the oil light on and they just don't quit. If you're looking for a simple vehicle with a drive train that will last and last through pretty much anything, any VW with a 2.0L (non-turbo) engine should be at the top of your list. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
