2003 New Beetle GLS 1.8 Turbo Platinum Grey metallic
2003 Volkswagen Beetle-New GLS Description
I offer you what I think is a really nice Car folks....
We have had this car for 6 1/2 years and it has never let us down.
We bought this car in October of 2010 with 69,350 miles on it; It now has 107,306 miles on it..
This is the sporty High Performance Beetle but you do not have to use Hi-Test gas ...
It has a Spoiler that flips up when you get going 30mph and it closes when you get back down to 20mph...Works just fine.
It has a 1.8 Turbo motor...Sounds like a jet sometimes when the turbo gets going...It also works fine.
Good Gas Mileage too ...I don't really keep track of our beetle but I got online and a red 2003 GLS beetle like mine averages 24.9 miles per gallon through 77 fillups, but i do not know how he drives.
Air Conditioning...it has always been Ice Cold...
Heater Warms up really fast too in about 1/2 mile.
Cruise Control works fine.
Alloy Spoked Wheels.
We have all of the owners books that came with the car along with the original window sticker and the push button key and a spare key.
Daughter bought me a new windshield 3 years ago...Was not broken but had little rock dings in it and the wipers left streaks so she bought me a new one and had it installed....Sweetie!. I drive 1 mile round trip to work each day and I rarely drive on the highway cause we have a diesel car that my Husband drives and I park in the Garage every night so the Windshield and the paint are like new... no fade
Well the paint...The paint itself is really really nice "Platinum Grey Metallic." I do not think the car has had any bad wrecks but when we got the car the bumper cover thingy was cracked down on the right front and the right fender had a crack in it. It doesnt really hurt anything...My Husband bought a new fender and new bumper but never got around to putting them on. They are included with the price of this car.
This car is really fun to drive...It is like a Go Cart with a Powerful Motor. I do not think you could tip it over...and no it has never been driven hard by grandma and grandpa us. Hubby drives it rarely.
Hubby is pretty good at keeping up with the oil changes and repairs...He put a new alternator on it maybe 2 months ago and the battery was new last year. The front brakes and rotarys are less than 2 years old; he said the rears were fine. He bought all of the parts for that timing belt thingy ....it was a whole $300.00 kit that had a pump and a tensioner and a pile of parts ...NAPA parts(they are supposed to be good parts)?? we took pictures
but he says it doesn't need changed until 120,000 miles so we have those parts that go with the purchase of this car. OK THE BAD:
The car just has a Cassette player and an AM/FM Radio....They both work fine.
A light came on in the dash and the power sunroof quit working with the switch. Hubby bought a new switch but that wasn't it...Volkswagon has a safety feature that if you leave your car windows open all you have to do is put your key in the door and hold it over in the lock position and all of the windows and the sunroof close. Well there is a manual sunroof crank that came with the car...If you open the sunroof some and get out and hold the key in the closed position the sunroof closes electrically So the sunroof does work,it is just that my hubby cannot figure out how to fix it. He's good for some things!
ALSO there is the crack in the lower right bumper cover thingy and a crack in the right front fender....They really do not bother anything and the parts to fix them are included. Please see pictures.
the only other "bad" thing is the drivers side floor mat...NOT THE CARPET...the floor mat is worn. Other than that this is a really really nice car. The spare tire is a Michelin and maybe new...The tires are Toyo and need rotated but are fine for the summer. I took a picture of one of the better tires but they are all fine... no plugs or patches in any of the tires. We have never had flat tire in it.
Except for the crack in the bumper and fender that were like that when we bought the car, I do not believe the car has ever been in a wreck...
I have been driving it for a long time now and it is just a nice car that is fun to drive. Even has a place for a little Flower Vase....
One last thing...The car needs vacuumed really badly...I had Flowery seat covers on it and when we just took them off the seats were dusty...I m soooo sorry but we will try to have it clean by the time you pick it up...
Hubby had one of those volkswagon diesels that VW bought back so he bought us a diesel Chevy Cruze that gets super super mileage and the kids are moving a good distance away so My Bug has to go ...Boo Hoo!
I think you will love this car...I did...
