1972 Volvo Other Wagon Description

This is a very nice 1800ES daily driver. Runs really great. A total blast to drive! 112k original miles. Starts right up and idles around 800 rpm's. Transmission shifts into all gears with no noises. Overdrive works great. All the gauges and switches work. Clock does not work. Radio powers up but nothing is coming in. I'm including a period correct AM/FM Volvo radio for the car. All exterior lights work as well as the turn signals and flashers.
This car was sold new in Florida. I don't have the history of the first owner but I think they owned it up until the late 90's. The second owner of the car (also from Florida) owned a foreign car repair shop in South Daytona and raced Volvos back in the 70's against IPD founder Richard Gordon. This owner rebuilt the top end of the motor for modern unleaded fuel. He also retrofitted the AC system. The car was given a repaint from this owner as well. All glass removed. All rubber seals replaced. The paint is still very nice and is a solid 8 out of 10. I bought the car from the third owner (From North Carolina) and he always stored car inside a storage unit. He owned car since 2006. From 2006 until I bought the car he spent over $5500 on parts (many IPD) and labor (Receipts included for next owner). Has good MI title in my name.
The body of this car is in great shape. No rust or previous accidents. Appears to have its original frame rails and floors. Very solid and straight car. Has one small dent on the edge of the roof. Chrome is in good shape with no pitting or dents. Stainless trim is also very nice. Has like new tires. Newer custom exhaust. New gas tank. Comes with original Jack and crank rod. Also complete set of tools in original bag. Has original owners manual and dust jacket. Interior is very nice. Upper and lower dash pads have been replaced with NOS pads. Dash face plates, switches, and gauges are very clean. Seats are good but drivers seat could use recovering. Interior panels are very nice. Carpet is in good original condition but could use professional cleaning especially in rear cargo area. Headliner is very nice with no sagging or rips. Glass all around car is great. Rear hatch glass shocks have been replaced. I recently replaced the square Fog-Lights (as pictured) with vintage 5.5" Lucas Fog-Lights (Clear lenses). Pictures in listing do not show the recently replaced fog-lights but can be seen in YouTube videos.
This week while the auction is running my mechanic will be replacing all old shocks with new KYB's. I felt the car was too loose when I drove it so the new shocks should really help. I also have a exhaust leak at the gasket between the header pipe and exhaust manifold. You may notice the car is a little loud in the videos from this leak. That will also be repaired this week. Last it will receive a new belt for the AC system.
This is probably the best 1800 I've owned. I once thought it was a purple 69 1800S, but now I think this one takes the prize. I hope my description helps and it wasn't too long. Thanks.
International/foreign buyers are very very welcome to bid on my car. I've shipped many cars overseas. Shipping cost from my house to the port in New Jersey cost about $600. The cost for a single car to Europe by boat is roughly $800-1000.
I can help load car if picking up in person or I can get you in contact with my transport broker who is very good and fair on shipping prices. I can also deliver the car for a fee. Please call if you have questions. My number is 586.321.6572.
I have uploaded a video slideshow to YouTube. The slideshow has well over 100 pictures showing the car in great detail. I've also made two short videos (Thanks for your help Randy!) of the car driving down my road and also a video inside car while driving. I strongly recommend watching these videos and consider them part of the description. Please do not bid until you watch these videos!!! You can search YouTube for these videos under "Nick Tarlton Gold 1972 Volvo 1800ES", "Nick Tarlton Gold 1972 Volvo 1800ES Coutry Drive", "Nick Tarlton Gold 1972 Volvo 1800ES Test Drive".
Feel free to ask questions. Please only bid if you have the money and permission. I prefer payment cash in person but can also do PayPal, money orders, cashiers check, and bank wire transfers. The car is available most days and time to look over. I'm also open to having a hired agent come and look at the car. Thanks and have fun bidding......a lot.
