2004 Volvo V70 T5 with Sport Pkg Description

Up for your consideration is my very well maintained, but also very well used 2004 V70 T5 with 5sp Manual Trans and Sports Package. This is a somewhat rare car in the US and I was kind of hoping it would find a new home with a Volvo enthusiast.

This car has been my daily driver for 13 years and has never let me down.Very well maintained, first by the Volvo dealer, then by a Volvo specialist in Kenvil NJ.

Runs strong, shifts smoothly.Everything works.

But in the spirit of complete transparency here’s the things that could use attentionI’ve chosen to ignore them for the past few years but here they are:

Body: Straight, clean and no rust.

  • It was rear ended once about 12 years ago resulting in a new bumper cover at the time.No other damage from that incident.

  • It has a few parking lot dings, all of which the paint-less dent guy says all are easily fixed.Mostly contained to the two rear doors but I can’t seem to photograph them.

  • About ¼ of the car was resprayed about 10 years ago after it was keyed at the mall.Don’t remember which parts but I’m sure I still have the receipt.

  • The front bumper has a scuff in it, and I honestly have no idea why.I suspect it will match a mark on my niece’s car. Front bumper is also pretty road-rashed, just from route 287 crap being blasted at it for 13 years. One of the plastic clips is loose too.

  • The sunroof rattles. No idea why.Mechanic says replacing the guide rails will fix it.I chose to ignore it since I have it open most of the time anyway.

  • It’s missing a wheel center cap.I’m almost positive who stole it but I can’t bring myself to steal it back. You can get them on eBay for $4.

  • As you can see it has LOTS of stickers. These can come off easily but if it doesn’t sell I’ll donate it and let the charity enjoy the stickers.

Glass:The windshield is toast. For some reason my commute on 287 seems to result in a new windshield every 8-12 months.About a year ago, I gave up.It has three very large cracks that go all the way across, but aren’t in the direct line of sight so I ignore them. All the other glass is good, including the rattly sunroof.

Interior:In pretty good shape.Leathers seats with generally very little wear for some reason.

  • There is a hole in drivers seat where I sat down with a screwdriver in my pocket about 10 years ago.I had the leather guy fix it right away, but the repair finally gave out about a year ago.Cost me about $100 to fix it the first time, but again, I chose to ignore it this time.

  • There is also a spot right next to the hole that is worn almost all the way through. This should probably be fixed or I can see it opening up the entire seam.

  • The leather is also delaminating on the gearshift boot cover. No idea why but you can buy a new one for about $75.

  • Car has winter mats and cargo liner, all are in good shape except the drivers one has the heel padding worn off.Couple of stains on the cargo liner.A bottle of red wine did break in the back seat once so the carpet is stained under the mat on the passenger side. Can’t see it with the mat in place.

There is only one smart key and the spring in it is broken so it just kind of flops around like a flacid..... whatever.Again I chose to ignore it since I rarely take the key out of the ignition.I do have the valet key.

Maintence.Like I said I’ve always kept up with the maintence and used Mobile 1 every 7.5K miles.

  • I haven’t done the 200K mile timing belt maintence.

  • I’m told the clutch is leaking (no idea what that even means) but it’s such a small leak that it doesn’t reach the ground (so where does it go?).Clutch feels normal and shifts fine. And I’m told that replacing it is almost a full day of labor, so I’m ignoring it.

  • Brakes are good.Pads and discs replaced at 175K.Along with the struts and tires.

  • So the tires have about 45K miles on them.Still have some life, but if I was going to keep the car I would have replaced them for the winter.

  • I have all the receipts from every dime spent on the car.Even a spreadsheet summarizing it.It comes to over $25,000 in just maintence on the car over 13 years.Damn.

  • Also have all the original books and window sticker.

I’m starting the bidding at $950.If it doesn’t sell its being donated for the tax deductions so no lowball offers please.I’m also not going to ship the car.I may consider delivering it if it’s very local to me in NJ.

Thanks for looking!
