1998 Volvo V70 Description

I inherited this 98 Volvo when my dad died 3 years ago. It runs very reliably but I don't want to have the repairsdone that my mechanic recommended. The car starts and drives fine,no smoke, plenty of power, the transmission is fine. Here are the issues with it:
1. There is a slow oil leak. There are several drops on the garage floor every day.The mechanic didn't investigate in depth, but he suspects the front or rear engine seal. He also says the car is a turbo (I didn't even know!) and that there are 2 lines going from the turbo to the engine and that one has a drip too.
2. The drive shaft, which is built in 2 parts, is wearing out. I brought the car in to the shop because it started to make a 'ping' sound. To replace the whole new assembly is expensive andI’m not interested in dealing with a used one. He said the front CV joint appears to be the issue and thatI could put in a used joint.
3. The cruise control worked when I got the car but stopped working last year. I haven't bothered fixing it.
4. Driver heated seat doesn't work.
5. The power window switches on the driver's door don't work for 'up' on the rear windows. But the rear windows will go up using the rear passenger switches.
6. Front tires are fair but will probably fail Maryland state inspection. Rear tires are better.
Other info:
  • It starts every time, runs well, has good acceleration
  • A/C is cold, heat is good
  • Never overheats
  • Gauges all work.
  • All the locks and doors are good, though the hood latch is sticky
  • I replaced all the brake pads within the last year. It has 4 disc brakes.
  • Power sunroof works.
  • The air bags are unhooked but they are fine, never deployed, the car hasn't been in an accident sinceI had it, andI don't think my dad had an accident either. You can rehook up the airbags yourself, I guarantee they will work. (I have hearing problems and so to avoid the deafening bang of deploying air bags I unhooked them. You may think it's crazy it doesn't matter: the air bags are fine).
  • The car is not very clean right now. Hey, it's 18 years old.
  • Last year the heater core failed and I replaced it successfully. But it leaked antifreeze mostly onto the passenger side carpet. I soaped and scrubbed the carpeting but the padding underneath the carpet (that foam stuff used to deaden sound) got soaked. I sopped up as much asI could but couldn't get it all out, so I thoroughly covered it with plastic sheeting, then relaid the carpet on top. It has stayed dry, and shouldn't be a problem.

**Important note:When you pick up the car, you must bring your own regular or temporary license plates - because of insurance I’m not able to let you drive on my tags. Good luck!
