1993 Volvo 960
1993 Volvo 960 Description
This is a rare survivor with one long term owner and me. The owner of Borton Volvo took delivery of this personally and drove for the first couple of thousand miles (but not considered the first owner as was a dealer car). The first actual owner had it until last year. It has been garaged, paint is really nice with no clear coat problems. There are some scuff marks on the passenger doors from stuff in the garage but really minor (see pix). Previous owner had about six cars hence the low miles. It has full records and original books. No accidents, original paint. It sat for about five years until I bought it last year. I have replaced the timing belt with a full front engine kit from IPD including the water pump and oil seals, all OEM quality. I replaced the fuel filter, coolant, oil/filter, trans fluid, Nissens radiator (original had pin hole corrosion in one spot, did not overheat), plugs. Also lubed up all brake pin sliders. Replaced strut rod bushings, which I do anytime I buy a 7 or 9 series. It will need an alignment but not too bad. Rear suspension is fine, no sag that I can see even after sitting for awhile.
Car will be sold with the original wheels that are in very good shape, but tires are needed. If you would like the 940 wheels pictured just let me know. That set has good Bridgestone tires except one is noisy (like a separated belt). Car goes down the road smoothly with no unusual noises.
I have owned about 20 red block 4cyl Volvos, and this is my first white block. I have enjoyed learning how to work on it but have an opportunity to buy my sister's 940 Turbo wagon which I need for the utility so this must go, too many cars.
Pretty much everything works except the AC, and the heat comes out the floor and defrost but not the face vents. Apparently that is a common problem and probably not worth fixing, the heat is great, car warms up quickly. Radio is from a later model with CD player, sounds great. Have not tried the CD player yet. Cruise works, driver's heated seat works (passenger needs a switch (I broke). Power seats work. No warning lights on. Nothing electrically wrong as far as I can tell. Battery is recent, NAPA.
This also has a very rare GLASS sunroof and the plastic wood trim. No water leaks.
Car runs great, engine is smooth, starts, idles, shifts well. Engine sounds healthy, no funny noises. The lifters were replaced at one point (have the old ones), and the head gasket was done by the dealer at around 45K or so but I would have to check exact mileage. I have done my best to describe this car as best I can. No warranty implied, it is an older car but with genuine low miles. This is best for the Volvo lover, near collectable status. Priced cheap for quick sale, not many like this left. Yes, just a little more work to go (tire, alignment, maybe AC). Please ask questions. I can let the car sit in the driveway for a week or two while shipping is arranged, but buyer has to arrange and pay for shipping.
