2001 BMW 5-Series 525i Description

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.

Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2001 BMW 525i with just 146k miles on it. I would rate the exterior of this BMW to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking sedan. It is finished in Aspen Silver Metallic over black leather, which is a good color combination. The silver finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. On this BMW, the only noteworthy flaws are a few scratches on the trunk lid...the worst of whichbeing on the back of the trunk lid. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory alloy wheels look good and are wrapped in a matching set of rubber. Tire tread is on the thin side all around so you'll probably need better tires to pass most state inspections. Please take your time to check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this BMW looks.

I would rate the interior of this 525i to also be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The black interior looks good against the Silver exterior. The door cards are clean and tight. The carpets show well for their age throughout the interior. The dash and headliner are clean, too. Both front seats are power operated and heated. Both seats work properly but the plastic side to the drivers seat is loose so the switches take a little finesse to operate. The power windows, locks, seats, mirrors and sunroof all work properly. The audio system is original and sounds good. This 525i has the optional factory widescreen display with NAV, which is an unusual option to find on a 525i. There are steering wheel audio controls, too. Like basically every E39 car, the cup holders are broken. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. There are independent temperature settings for the driver and passenger. The air conditioner blow ICE COLD AIR!!! The trunk is spacious and clean. A set of books and manuals are also included. Again, please take your time to check out each of the photos carefully.

Mechanically, this BMW appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 2.5L inline six cylinder engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older car. The front bushings feel a little worn and should probably be replaced soon. This is normal wear for these cars and the entire kit can be had for about $250...or you could just replace worn components individually a la carte (but I like to just do it all at once and be done with it).All major suspension components feel good on the road. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine makes good power and feels smooth. She keeps perfect temperature at all times. The check engine light is on. The code is for the MAF signal. I haven't cleared it but it may be a fluke. I'd recommend clearing it and waiting to see if it comes back. The car doesn't present any typical symptoms of a MAF issue. I'd drive this car anywhere without hesitation. The ZF automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts perfectly, as it should. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight...the only complaint being a slight vibration at highway speeds from the aforementioned worn bushings. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
