OVERVIEW: Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my friend's 2006 BMW Z4 3.0si Hatchback Coupe. Edmunds.com refers to it as 'the best Z4 yet' and lists a number of new features that enable it to live up to its reputation as the 'Ultimate Driving Machine.' Here's an excerpt from the Edmund's text: "For 2006, the BMW Z4 undergoes its first major update since its debut. Heading the list of updates and improvements is a new coupe body style. Its underlying mechanicals are pretty much the same as those on the convertible but its fixed roof provides extra body rigidity. More powerful engines are also new. In the 3.0si, a high-output, 255-hp engine is used. The optional automatic now has six gears instead of the previous five. BMW has also reprogrammed the automatic transmission for sportier gearshift responses and added steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. Other 2006 enhancements include a retuned suspension for better ride quality, a higher final-drive ratio for improved acceleration, new wheels, additional braking functionality for the stability control system, updated front and rear styling and minor interior trim updates." What I can say at the outset is that if you want to take advantage of a rare opportunity to buy a true, fast, super-clean, well-equipped and lovinglymaintained, low mileagesports car- one that's as capable on the track as it is tripping to Ralphs or Costco - at just a percentage the cost of a new one, please read on. On the other hand, if you are looking for a comfortable, softly suspended boulevard cruiser, you need to look elsewhere. Another caveat: if you are looking for a nice little carto sip fuel (does get 30 highway MPG, though!) andtake to Jiffy Lube once a year to meet its maintenance needs, this, again,is not your car. This one isa well groomed thoroughbred. It has been serviced from day one by New Century BMW, Alhambra, CA(service departmentt recently performed a complete service which included installation of a new battery, brakes, timing belt tensioner and wiper blades/washer motor) This is a car that will require continuedprofessional-quality service at a BMW dealer or by a certified BMW mechanic. HISTORY: Although BMW is headquartered in Munich, Germany, this Z4 began life here in the USA at the Spartanburg, South Carolinaplant where it's German parts were assembled. This car was sold new at the Alhambra, CA dealership for $54,000 and purchased by Kristin, its present owner. Although she has tried to keep the car by storing it temporarilyin her parent's garage, her new family has dictated purchase of a more practical SUV. Despite other manufacturers moving tomore economical FWD with V6 engines, this Hatchback retains itstraditional sports car configuration with its famous BMWfree-revving in-line6-cylinder/dual overhead camshaft engineup frontwith a driveline to the rear wheels. Looking at this car inside and out would lead you to believe its fairly close to showroom fresh. And no accidents, of course. All maintenance is completed and its full maintenance history is available from Eddie Wong, Kristen's long time service advisor at Alhambra's BMW dealership. All of its several Owner's manuals and dealer literature (pictured)will accompany the car as well as a premium-quality car cover. It has a clear California title and is located in Cypress, CA, nestled between Long Beach and Buena Park.
