BackgroundUp for auction is this rock solid example of an 87 GMC 2500 4x4. This is a lifelong west coast truck that has spent time in California, Oregon, and Washington. To me these are the holy grail of GM trucks. This is the last year of the square body truck but, the first year with fuel injection. This one is a clean and solid example. Why buy a new or slightly used truck when you can buy this one for a fraction of the cost, and have it continue to go up in value while making a great daily driver? I took this truck on trade for one of my Chevelle's because it was so clean. Unfortunately, I really do not find I have the space or time to enjoy it as I'm concentrating on restoring my 59 El Camino and 55 Chevy Truck. This truck has a clean and clear California Title. It passes California Emissions with flying colors and is currently registered. California Emissions testing is very stringent so, you know this truck runs well.
Paint/BodyI've been all over this truck and it is very solid. The rockers, cab corners, fenders, doors, cowl, bedsides, and kick panels are all rock solid. This is a very clean truck underneath as well. Floors are clean underneath and chassis is still a nice chassis black. I was told the left bedside was resprayed under warranty when the truck was still new. Paint from this era was notoriously bad but, this one still has a nice shine to it and is very presentable. Has a few chips and scratches as to be expected on a 30 year old truck but, above average condition for sure. The bed is rust free. Doors and hood open and shut very nice with no sag. All glass is in good shape. Engine compartment paint is original and in very nice condition.
InteriorInterior is also above average condition. Seat is near perfect. Carpet is immaculate. Door panels and door pulls are in good shape. Interior paint is in very nice condition. The dash pad has a few hairline cracks that can be seen in the pictures below. The gauges all work and both fuel tanks work. The truck has an aftermarket CD player with USB hookup hidden in the ashtray. Radio works and sounds good. Weatherstripping is in excellent condition. Rear slider works well. Steering wheel is nice and not cracked or sticky. Tilt steering works well and is not sloppy.
MechanicalThis truck runs and drives well. It fires right up and doesn't use any coolant or oil. Idles smooth and the fuel injection makes it a real pleasure to drive. Steering does not have excessive play and the brakes work well. Wipers and all lights work. A/C needs a charge for summer. Transmission shift well. Engine compartment and chassis are very clean. Truck passes stringent California Emissions with flying colors. Both fuel tanks work. 4 wheel drive works great. Optima red top battery. Truck can be used as a daily driver as is.

In Closing...I'm not interested in trades for other vehicles but, am looking for a 348/409 Chevy Engine for my 59 El Camino or a built 401 Nailhead for my 55 Truck. I would consider one of those in part trade. I've sold a handful of my personal cars and trucks on ebay in the past 15 years and have always had positive experiences as I go out of my way to take tons of pictures and in depth descriptions. I think whoever buys this truck will be very happy with it as these are getting extremely hard to find in solid shape. I will overnight the title, receipts, and documentation to the winning bidder upon receipt of payment. I can store the truck for a few weeks until your shipper can pick up. If you are an overseas buyer, I can deliver to the Port of Tacoma or Port of Seattle for free. Good luck and feel free to give me a call with any questions at 253-229-93sevenseven-Oliver
