1986 Monte Carlo SS, well maintained - runs & drives great! Really nice car!
1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Description
Here is my 1986 Chevy Monte Carlo SS. This is a really clean car - no rust (see pics of bottom of door edge and under rocker panel). I bought it 12/29 of 2001 from a gentleman in Watertown, SD when it had 56K miles on it. There we only two owners before me - I bought it because it was the cleanest looking one at the time, without spending top dollar on a super-low mileage example. This car has original paint, which isn't perfect, but still looks good. The mileage is original and accurate. The car drives as it should - tight, no rattles. It now has 70K miles - only put on 14K in the 16 years I have owned it. Never, ever seen snow - only rain a couple times, garage kept.I had Eibach springs put on it in 2002 to lower it just a bit (1.5") - it looks great like this (I still have, and will provide, the original springs). That is the only thing mechanically that isn't original. I did remove the stripes and added 2001 MCSS badging. I also removed all the window tint with the exception of the back glass. It has been maintained over the years and any issue that came up was immediately addressed (thermostat, head gaskets, spark plugs, and other normal, minor things). The brakes are in great shape, as are the tires. The interior is clean. It shows some fading on the top of the door panels and a little on the front seats. There are no tears in the fabric. I put a "dress up kit" of carpeted panels in the trunk only for looks - there is ZERO rust there (or anywhere, other than some normal surface "dust" on the underside in spots. This thing is clean.Car is the now, more rare column shift / 60/40 bench seat configuration. There are some light surface scratches in the paint in spots (passenger door most notably) - there are a couple very small dings. Again, it isn't perfect, but it is a VERY NICE example of an original 86 SS, that has been driven a little yet taken care of. This is a perfect car to buy and enjoy driving. The dual exhaust pipes at the back are clean and bright looking. The wheels are in good shape and the tires have plenty of life in the treads. It has a new headliner. I also have the original floor mats. The only things that need attention should you wish to address them are:1) Left front speaker cuts in and out.2) AC needs recharging. It worked fine, but I have never kept up with the charge because I only drove the car on nice days. Never needed it.3) First owner had a Cellular one phone in the car. No holes in the plastic anywhere, but the antenna mount is on the back glass.4) One of the wheel lug nuts on the front right is missing its' cover. Probably very easy to acquire one on Ebay??
This car is being sold as-is with no warranty. I am certain any reasonable buyer will understand this position. Price at end of auction is the final price and not negotiable upon pick up. Please be certain you are comfortable with your decision before the auction ends. I will help answer any reasonable questions to help with your decision. I also have all the original paperwork and manuals, as well as some documentation from the second buyer, and myself.
I think this is a very nice car for the money. Yes, there are some absolute beauties for sale right now - very low mileage, stored for years, etc. This one is a very nice, solid, well-running version that is affordable if you are looking for one of these cars. It needs nothing to just drive away and enjoy. I will add further items of interest if I think of more. I will be happy to provide additional pics if needed.
