1934 Replica/Kit Makes Mercedes-Benz Description

From what I have read, these cars were replicated by Heritage Industries from mid to late 1980's to early 1990's. They were manufactured in kit form and as a completed auto. Kit forms started in price from $15,000.00 and went up from there depending on options. That pricing did not include donor car components needed for completion. A completed factory built car started at about $50,000.00 and went up from there depending on options. I am not sure on productin numbers of either the kits or completed autos. These cars are thought to be one of the best in replication of the original Mercedes Benz 500K. I purchased this auto in an unassembled condition with only the chassis being remotely assembled. Most all components present were in their original packaging and new condition. The fiberglass components were built extremely thick and durable including gel coat application. The kit was designed with a steel body subframe assembly, that once the fiberglass panels were installed was cushion mounted to the main chassis frame. Having enjoyed classic autos in many forms- antiques, customs, street rods and replicas, I decided to build this auto with care and concern to functionality. The frame and Camaro front subframe was reworked and welded into a complete assembly. The engine mounts were designed and fabricated as bolt in units totally eliminating the original design that had a fixed crossmember under the engine oil pan. The rear spring hangers were also redesigned and fabricated to bolt to the frame. The body subframe mounts were also fabricated as bolt on to the frame assembly. The original kit included many formed plastic panels which included the dash assembly. I did not use that assembly as it obstructed driver and passenger entry into the car. I designed and fabricated a sub dash framework with removable exterior panels along with console assembly. Several years in the building of this classic roadster with attention to functionality and detail. I have done many extra items that you would not typically see in similar Heritage cars out there being driven or offered for sale. For example, I built and installed under running board shielding from behind the front wheels to the front of the rear wheels. They are designed to be easily unbolted and removed if necessary. The shielded area behind the right front wheel (where the battery is mounted) is hinged for battery removal and or replacement. Interior body and trunk panels are also removable. Most all fasteners are grade 8 or stainless. Assembly instruction manual is also included with this auto, but not always followed. For example many screws and pop rivets were designed to be used in construction of this auto and they were not in this 500K !! The car body was painted silver with fenders in black. The paint is base/clear coat system. I could go on and on about this labor of love, but will end by listing some of the components and features built into this fine MB 500K Roadster.
