1953 Dodge Other Pickups Description
1953 Dodge Pick Up / Short bed / Step-side
I've got a GEM of an old '53 Dodge pick up that I'm hoping someone will love as much as I do. It is the most solid early '50's pick up I've ever come across, not to mention it's a very rare bird that is more difficult to come by than a Ford or Chevy. I had planned on hanging on to this one for years to come but our house project is costing more than planned so I'm going to reluctantly let her go and free up the cash.
I found it over a year ago in southern Utah (desert climate). Prior to Utah it lived in Arizona. I purchased it from a gentleman with a terminal illness and it was a bucket list project for him. He had quite a collection of oldies, specifically dodges, that he was selling because he could no longer work on them or drive them. Up until about 4 years ago he used it to run errands around town. It's currently not running because it needs a new battery and radiator. He had already gone through the electrical. He loved the truck and was very particular when it came down to who he'd sell it to. I wish I could hang on to it, but it would be a long time before I could get to it.
As you can see from the photos it has an amazing patina! There has been no special paint work in a paint booth on this, what you see is the work of mother nature, father time, and the previous owner's touch-ups over the years. I love the "Americana" look to this patina. I planned on keeping the body just as it is and seal it in with a few coats of flat clear coat. I think the solid straight body and the patina this old truck wears sets it apart from any other one out there.
All I've done to the exterior is power spray it and clean it up. All the glass is near perfect with the exception of the driver's side window that has a sealed hairline crack. The floors, fender wells, sheet metal, engine compartment, frame rails, cab corners, etc... are all rock solid. The minimal rust is found in the bed trim rails which can easily be replaced/repaired.
I've got several boxes of spare parts that the previous owner collected over the years that will be included with the sale.
Ifthere'ssomething you want to see that isn't inthe pictures I'mhappy to take more photos and email them to serious buyers. Please bid only if you have money in hand. Reserve is set very fair and I'm motivated to move her to a new home, but not desperate. I'll consider fair and reasonable offers and I'm willing to end the auction early if we agree on a price. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for any reason. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I'll do all I can on my end to make sure all goes smoothly with your shipper when picking up the truck. Although the truck is incredibly solid and in great shape for the year it is being sold as is with no warranties or guaranties expressed or implied.
I am not a dealer but love, collect, and restore old American classics. I'm particularly fond of the early and mid-fifties pick ups and this old Dodge is by far one of the coolest ones I've come across, especially with the unique butterfly hood!
Please ask any questions before bidding and I'm happy tovisit with serious buyers on the phone. Just email me your phone number and I'll give you a call. Thank you and good luck, there's no disappointments with this Dodge !!
