In addition, I strongly believe in the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words." The Internet has allowed us in our hobby to search for cars nationwide and it's my hope to make you as comfortable as possible with this purchase. Please take the time necessary to really look my detailed photos and videos over. So many sellers skate over all of the areas of these trucks we want to see...lower body panels, wheel wells, chrome, undercarriage, etc. I think it's important to photograph every area of these trucks so you have an honest idea of its spectacular condition.
In the event you decide to purchase this truck sight unseen, I want you to feel like you've already seen the truck in person. Please notice that similar photos are not duplicates. I tried to take some photos in the shade and others in the sun, so you'll get a more realistic understanding of how clean this truck is. When you're finished looking, I hope you'll genuinely feel like you just looked the truck over at my home.
For sale today is the holy grail of the '92-'96 F150 lineup: an untouched, low mile survivor, 1996 Ford F150 XLT, 4X4, short box pickup truck, with Ford's legendary 302 V8. This pickup has just 31,500 original miles on its rust free Virginia body and features an absolutely stunning two tone paint combination of Pacific Green Metallic and Silver Frost Metallic. From the dual tube rollbar, stainless bed rails, 31" tires, and '90s vintage CB radio, this truck is a stunning time capsule! In addition, please notice that this pickup has never had a trailer hitch installed. This was a babied, Sunday "going to town" truck its entire life!
Please grab your favorite beverage and take some time to look at the High Definition videos and over 200 high quality photos of this special pickup truck.
Overall Information
As seen in the videos, the truck starts, runs, drives, accelerates, and brakes like it should. There are no games with this gorgeous truck, it's simply an incredibly well-cared for survivor. Please note that this truck hasn't had a trailer hitch on it and it shows NO signs of ever being off road. I suspect this truck was purchased as a weekend "going to town" truck and its condition shows how well it has been cared for over the years.
The CarFax report shows the original owner traded the truck on a new truck in late 1996 and the 2nd owner used the truck sparingly until December 2015. My understanding is that owner #2 passed away and the truck was sold to a person in the same town in December of last year. My understanding is that buyer quickly sold the truck to the gentleman I purchased it from this last March. I had the truck shipped back to Wisconsin at that time. The CarFax report also backs up the mileage as correct and original.
I will let the videos and photos tell the story of this terrific pickup. The RUST FREE Pacfic Green and Silver Frost paint has a glow and gloss that turns heads wherever this truck goes. The truck has an aggressive stance with the 31" tires and period correct chrome roll bar. As mentioned in the videos, the dual exhaust has a nice tone, but is NOT obnoxiously loud. You can cruise on the highway without exhaust drone.
Although the truck looks stunning, there are minor nicks and very light scratches that I would consider very normal for a 20 year old truck. It's been well cared for, but it's still been lightly driven over the last 20+ years. Things to note include light scratches on the side mirror chrome and scratches on the top of the front bumper where people stood to check the oil. The window trim is bright and looks terrific. Please note the gorgeous box and bed area on the truck. There are minor scratches in the box, but they don't photograph well. Again, as stated in the videos and photos, notice the truck also has a couple minor dings that I think a paintless dent removal professional could remove with relative ease.
I've owned several two tone F150s with original paint and I always marvel at how inconsistently the decals separating the two colors were applied. This truck is no different. On some panels, the decals stop near the edge, on others they're 1/4" away. I've included photos of my orignal paint red/white truck decals to show the inconsistencies on that truck, too.
Also please note the gorgeous original plating of items like exhaust brackets, latches, and grounds throughout the truck. Notice that the chrome shows some wear on the door handles and the bumpers. Also note the spotting that always seems to randomly occur on the center of the body side moldings.
Interior
The gray interior is a fantastic contrast to the two tone paint and is in stunning original condition. The interior has never been smoked in and the seat was covered since new. The original gray carpet shows like new as well. All power options work, the gauges work, the horn works, the cruise works, and the Air Conditioning blows VERY cold (42 degrees!). Please note that I had a hard time getting the rear speakers to operate. The fronts work, but I wonder if the rears are tied into the CB? I may investigate further if I have time, but know ahead of time that something is wonky with the stereo speakers.
Engine Compartment
The engine compartment is just as clean as the rest of the truck. From the underside of the hood, to the firewall, I think you'll be impressed. Please note all of the original Ford items throughout the engine compartment, including the hoses. Also, please notice how bright all of the plating is on the truck, showing it was stored in a dry environment over the years.
Undercarriage
The undercarriage of this pickup is just as nice as the rest of the truck. The frame rails and rear wheel wells have been detailed at some point, but the rest of the underside appears factory original. Note how rust free this truck is! The floor of the cab and bed look nearly new. The underside has been recently protected with a coat of WD40 to protect the original finish. The WD leaves a light film (but not oily) on the undercarriage, which protects it from rain.
So, Can I Drive It?
I've included video of the truck idling, driving and highway speeds, and shifting through the gears. The truck stops like it should and doesn't pull. The 4WD engages and disengages properly as well.
The Cooper tires are new and have just a couple hundred miles on them. The truck was aligned at that time to ensure proper wear of the tires. The shop that performed the alignment commented that the front end suspension is tight.
This is just an honest original pickup truck with incredibly low miles. If you've been looking for an untouched, original, 1992-1996 short box 4X4 F150 that you can just get in and drive, I think this is it. I honestly can't think of anything else to say. Please don't hesitate to email me for a copy of the CarFax or with any other questions. My name is Jeff, my phone number is 414-940-8848, and the truck is located an hour north of Chicago, in Oak Creek, WI.
