Celebrating the 40th Anniversary since the classic 1966 car, the Hertz Rent-a-Racer program returned in 2006 with only 500 cars built. This is car #302 out of that 500 with only 3,177 original miles! These cars were only available exclusively through Hertz as a rental. A very small allotment (approx. 20 cars) were never rented, but instead sold to Hertz executives. This is one of those rare cars. I purchased this Shelby directly from the former Hertz executive. This is the car that put Shelby back into the Mustang business and should be highly collectable as time goes on.
The Shelby itself is in fantastic condition as you would expect for such a low mileage car - no accidents. There is one small divot in the rear bumper, perhaps the result of a shopping cart. Other than that there is not much to mention. This Shelby has been adult driven and is a garage kept car, all stock, except for the classic Cobra center caps on the wheels. I have the original caps and will swap them back on at your request. The tires are originals with full tread and 2006 dates on the sidewalls. The Shelby has just had an oil change, inspection and battery replacement.
I would recommend a full inspection by the buyer as the car is over ten years old and I want the buyer to be 100% satisfied with their purchase. That said, there is no warranty of any kind, and the buyer assumes all responsibility for doing any research prior to bidding. If you can look at the car in person, that is even better. There is a non-refundable $1000.00 Paypal deposit due within 24 hours with the balance to be paid in full with certified cashier's check within seven business days.
Included in the sale is the Shelby Vehicle Authenticity Certificate, a brand new Audiovox Sirius controller unit (Sirius has a lifetime subscription and still works perfectly), some posters, a partial NOS Shelby stripe kit (may all be there), two sets of keys, the 40th anniversary badge and a car cover.
I had planned to keep this car for the long haul as I am a huge Mustang enthusiast, starting with my very first Cobra in 1995, but some things have come up and so I say Happy Bidding!
