Sadly the time has come to let my precious Baby go... Again..

I listed my CRX here on eBay several times late last year and the last supposed 'buyer' kept stalling and ultimately could not come up with the funds to close the deal. I have to admit I got burned out of the whole selling process and put it on the backburner while I focused on other more pressing matters in my life..

I tried every possible listing methods, auction format, buy-it-now, best offers and none resulted in a favorable outcome for a sale.

So this time I've decided to re-list my CRX Si as a "NO RESERVE" auction with a "Buy-It-Now" price.

As stated it previously.. I'm sorry but I'll be very honest, if you're going to message me quoting NADA / Kelly Blue Book guide price for this low mileage original CRX Si it's probably not the one for you..

With that said, here's a quick bullet-point summary of my CRX Si, I will let the 100+ detailed pictures below do the real talking, warts and all! :^)

  • Paint is in very good condition overall. I do believe the front-end has been re-painted at one point although I can't find any documents supporting this within the extensive service records included in the purchase. ...back in the early 90's I purchased a Black 1988 Honda CRX Si with 35k miles that I had a BLAST with, drove the crap out of it until I sold it with 268k trouble free miles!!

Fast forward to 2010, I started obsessing with finding a low mileage unmolested original CRX Si that hasn't been hacked and modded by 'Tuners'.. perhaps to relive the glorious past of my first CRX Si..
Low and behold after almost a year of searching nationwide I came across this amazing low mileage gem in Central California!!

This Silver CRX Si was originally owned by a sprightly 90+ year old woman in Richmond, CA. who used to Auto-Cross her cars(..fortunately this CRX was not AutoX'd, just her grocery getter!!). She adored her CRX and she religiously maintained & serviced it as evidenced by the service records included with the purchase. Unfortunately she just could no longer cope with the manual shifting at her advanced age so she had to let her beloved CRX go..
It was subsequently sold to her close friend who lived in same the area. Unfortunately he was a large 6-foot plus man with lower back pain issue.. as much as he loved and enjoyed the little CRX he just could not drive it without severe pain in his lower back so he decided to let it go.

So I purchased a 1-way plane ticket to San Francisco Airport and picked up this amazing CRX Si, WooHoo!!! :-)

Let me tell you the drive back to my home in Las Vegas was the most amazing and fun trip I've had in years!! From San Francisco area I took the 101 Freeway all the way down to beautiful Monterey, CA. I meandered through the famed Pebble Beach 17-mile drive enjoying the beautiful Ocean scenery and the tranquil drive.. Everywhere I went I got countless 'thumbs-up' and people coming up and complimenting the 'Rex whenever stopped at the red light or pumping gas!

Next came my absolute favorite part of my road trip, the iconic Pacific Coast Highway 1.. the most scenic, twisting mountain roadway that hugs the Pacific Coast ocean for 150 miles all the way down to Morro Bay, CA. I'm telling you this amazing CRX Si drove and handled every bit like it came off the assembly line back in 1989. Absolutely no rattles or shakes, super tight steering with no shimmy or play whatsoever, the buttery smooth Honda 5-speed transmission shifted like a dream with perfect clutch uptake allowing me to whip out effortless 'Heel-n-Toe' downshifts and upshifts throughout the twisty PCH drive!! I must've looked like a mental patient with a HUGE Sh*t-eating grin throughout the entire drive down the coast to Southern California to my parent's home!!! From there I drove through the beautiful desert on Highway 15 all the way back to my home in Las Vegas, NV.. again a flawless drive averaging 75mph with a few jaunts over 90+ mph on empty stretches of straight highway.

Oh and this is important because back in the day 'Air Conditioning' was an option on most cars including the CRX, my CRX Si is equipped from the factory with factory cold A/C and I ran it throughout my epic 700+ miles drive home!! I've seen a lot of CRX's on eBay without A/C so this is an important option and a nice bonus!!

So I've owned my Baby since early 2011, always garaged and hooked up to a battery tender. Started, warmed up properly, and driven around my neighborhood every few weeks to keep it primed.

As you can see aside from my 700+ miles that I initially put on the odometer for my drive home from Bay area Cali to Las Vegas, my Baby has been a garage Queen.. I just can't bring myself to drive it over past the 40,000 odometer mile mark... Silly I know, which is another reason why I'm letting my CRX go so the next caretaker can take it past the 40k milemark.. or make it your very own garage Queen..
