1982 Jeep CJ Base Sport Utility 2-Door Description

If you need further evidence that Jeeps are becoming grade-A collectables, look no further than this ultra-rare 1982 Jeep CJ7 Jamboree 30th Anniversary edition. It is number 313 of approximately 650 built and 250 remaining, and it is quite likely the most highly-sought of all vintage CJ7s. Of course, it's still a Jeep, so please be sure to take it out and get it dirty, which is what Jeeps have always been about.
The Jamboree Jeeps were the only ones ever painted Topaz Gold, and they were built to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Jeepers Jamboree, which was held in Georgetown, CA on August 29-30, 1953. Each Jamboree edition was specially numbered badge on the dash and given special graphics on the hood. Other special features include a pair of big (rare and expensive) Marchal 850 fog lights on the front bumper, chrome bumpers, black rocker trim, and that unique spare tire cover. This particular example, surely one of the very best in existence, also carries a dealer-installed brush guard up front. Finish quality is quite good, more than most vehicles received in 1982, and it's just about ideal for shows and yes, heading out to a Jeep Jamboree. It's extremely well preserved with exactly zero signs of accident damage or major surgery in its past and judging by the overall condition, it hasn't spent much time off-road. Someone really treated this special edition Jeep like it was something special.
Jamboree Jeeps also received that special black and gold upholstery on the standard high-back bucket seats, and thanks to new foam and seat covers, they're as comfortable as they were when it was new. There's a locking center console between the seats that houses an aftermarket CD player, but the original AM/FM/CB radio is still in the dash, a real trip back in time! The correct Jamboree serial number badge is still on the dash above the auxiliary instruments, all of which are still fully operational. Black carpets on the floor provide a modicum of civility and it carries rather rare storage bags strapped to the roll cage, adding a dash of practicality. Obviously there are also some upgraded speakers back there, and they sound great with the top off. And speaking of the top, it comes with the standard black folding top and soft doors that seal up well enough to make this an all-weather cruiser.
The only engine available in 1982 was Jeep's famous 258 cubic inch inline-six, which is really the one you want anyway. Bulletproof reliable and very torquey, it will carry you to the ends of the Earth if needed. Thanks to a recent major tune up, it runs superbly, and we can see goodies like a fresh carburetor, new belts and hoses, and a recent battery to help it stay on the road without issues. The 5-speed manual gearbox was also standard on the Jamboree and the overdrive fifth gear is a welcome addition to the features list, making this upright Jeep a decent highway vehicle. Of course, you get legendary 4-wheel-drive with a 2-speed transfer case and heavy-duty axles, a robust leaf spring suspension designed to crawl through rough terrain, and standard power steering and front disc brakes. Chrome wheels were standard equipment as well, with these carrying big 31x10.5-15 off-road radials that look ready for anything.
If you're a Jeep fan, perhaps now is the time to start thinking about pedigrees and collectability. In our estimation, no other Jeep can appeal to the long-term collector like this Jamboree edition. Call today!
