1995 Land Rover Range Rover LWB County Description

Rangie fans, hold on to your hats. 1995 Classic, LWB, STICK SHIFT conversion with FACTORY Rover parts, LT230, piles of OEM goodies, restored and serviced! It checks EVERY box a Rover fan could ever want. I have dubbed this truck over time the "Westmidlands Edition" because of its UK flavor, Rover weekender goodies and its overall presentation. This truck belongs in the fields of a rural setting with the tailgate open on a foggy morning! Settle in, get a bottle of water, a cold beer or a cup of coffee. This is a long ad, but by far, a truck worth the read, because it is the one you have waiting for! I am absolutely thrilled to offer for a sale this BEAUTIFUL, clean Carfax, rust free, 1995 Land Rover Range Rover County LWB! It has been very well cared for and drives like a dream and looks absolutely stunning in Beluga Black over Tan Sorrell Leather! Let's dive right in!

Background:

Let me begin with a little background. This gorgeous Rover was produced for the 1995 model year as a send off celebration to the timeless Range Rover Classic. Featuring it's one year only interior, it is THE Rover be had. Only 2,494 of both the Short Wheel Base (SWB) and the Long Wheel Base (LWB) were imported to the United States and the SWB outsold the LWB in part to cost. Which makes this LWB particularly rare. Moreover, the US bound RRC only was offered with an automatic transmission. So let's jump into this cherry:

A beautiful, black, 81k mile Land Rover Discovery with a very rare factory manual transmission offered its drivetrain for this conversion. That allowed for a only factory period correct parts to used in this 1995 LWB. The Discovery transmission would be the same transmission offered in the Euro Rovers. The pedal box, clutch setup and electronics are all factory Rover. NOTHING hodge podged. As a further upgrade to the drivetrain, the Discovery LT230 transfer case was used in the truck with its center lock differential as massive upgrade to the sock Borg Warner transfer case.

When built in mid 1994, this Rover was built from the factory fully loaded. Power windows, power locks, power seats, Connelly leather, generous rear space, dual zone climate control, loads of real wood adorning the interior, and on and on. One upping its smaller SWB brother as well was the LWB only 4.2L V8, in place of the smaller, less powerful SWB 3.9L V8. This 4.2L packs more punch than the 3.9L and does more than simply add some power. It adds an element of increased ease. Less throttle to pull away at lights, less effort to merge on a highway. This was Rover at its best: comfortable, luxurious and capable while ready for any adventure on or off-road! The Tan Sorrell leather interior is supple and warm in color, the Beluga Black too is by its namesake deep and beautiful. Rover knocked it out of the box with this last year beauty, truly.

This truck also features a PILE of OEM goodies! The truly hard to find LWB Classic OEM roof rack, the Land Rover cell phone, the Rover picnic set, Rover Safari lights and on! Oh man, this is the gift that keeps on giving.

This black beauty has been thoughtfully and thoroughly restored featuring a stunning BRAND NEW paint job, a refreshed engine and BRAND NEW leather seating. The 20 year leather was removed and redone in factory correct pattern in high quality leather. The wood was removed, stripped and refinished. And on and on and on. This truck has received PILES AND PILES of love, restoration, service and attention and is ready to find a new home.

I promise you, the details are better than the summary, so please read on! Let's continue to the service!

The Condition and Service:

This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained, serviced and is a high standard for Rover service!

Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:

This engine had average miles for the year with 122,000 miles appear on the odometer. It showed no signs of distress, head gasket issues, overheating, knocking or oil pressure issues. But as part of a effort to have her last for many more years, the engine was dissembled for a wonderful refresh. There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep the engine in near brand new condition. The motor is very healthy and has loads of smooth power! And a happy Rover will go and go and go happily for hundreds of thousands of miles. And this happy Rover has received LOADS of preventative maintenance to make sure of that. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS.

-ENGINE

As part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received BRAND NEW OEM head gaskets and OEM head bolts, torqued not only in the correct manner from the factory, but marked as a single visual reference point and then double checked by using a very expensive Snap-On digital torque wrench which reads angles in which bolts have been turned to ensure all the bolts have gone the proper amount of degrees. The cylinder heads were cleaned, decked and pressure checked! The engine block and rotating assembly were checked and cleaned. There was no significant wear to be seen, showing signs of a healthy and well loved engine and base in which to build. The engine then received BRAND NEW valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets and seals, upper and lower exhaust manifold gaskets and upper intake gaskets, rear main seal, among a few other minor seals. These were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care. The engine bay was also steam cleaned, then cleaned by hand additionally, to make sure it presented as nice as the engine. Take a nice look at the engine bay, clean throughout! Fresh 20/50W oil. The detail work goes on and on. This service was done within 1,000 miles as part of this truck's ongoing preventative care. THIS is the maintenance you want to see on a Rover! The truck runs COOL as can be and has never overheated.

-COOLING SYSTEM

This BRAND NEW radiator flows fantastic and keeps the truck cucumber cool. Also to keep this beauty's water flowing it received a BRAND NEW OEM water pump! This Rover stays cool beyond cool! The temp needle NEVER moves past 8 o'clock even with the AC on and in traffic. The proper coolant is used and brand new! The entire system was pressure bled, not burped to make sure every air bubble was removed!

-IGNITION SYSTEM and STARTING SYSTEM

BRAND NEW OEM Lucas distributor cap and OEM Lucas rotor. BRAND NEW OEM vacuum advance unit. BRAND NEW Bosch coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and spark plug wires. The distributor had the air gap adjusted and timing is spot on.

-BATTERY

BRAND NEW Interstate battery!! Cranks hard and fast everytime!

-BELT

BRAND NEW serpentine belt!

-AIR FILTER

BRAND NEW air filter! Air Filter box, to and bottom, was removed, cleaned and then cleaned with plastic polish.

TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH

The trans was given BRAND NEW fluid and shifts great! No syncro issues, no groans or grinds. Transmission was inspected while out with no mechanical flaws seen. BRAND NEW clutch and throwout bearing. Resurfaced flywheel, fresh bled clutch hydraulics. Again this truck uses the factory R380 Rover transmission, with factory Rover pedal box and pedals, factory clutch master cylinder and lines. Factory shifter with factory console plate and placement. Factory, factory, factory. Even the correct factory ohm resistors have been wired in place to put the ECU into manual mode. This was a well thought out conversion done professionally, not some back yard chop shop. Factory correct lines and cooler!!

-TRANSFER CASE:

Great shape Rover LT230 center lock differential. No groaning at speed or clunks on take up. BRAND NEW transfer case fluid oil.

-DIFFERENTIALS and DRIVELINE

BRAND NEW gear oil in the diffs! Resealed with no leaks. Factory drive shafts front and rear!

-STEERING

BRAND NEW OEM power steering pressure, low pressure and reservoir hoses!

There has been OVER $10,000 in retail refreshing, parts and labor costs invested just in the above including the transmission and transfer case swap!!!

Lets move to the chassis, suspension and brakes:

-UNDERCARRIAGE

Wonderful, clean and rust free California truck! Great solid floors and frame. No caked on road grime or dirt from off roading. This baby is ready to go live off road, but has never been out there. Be the one to get her dirty, to inherit the dirt!

-BRAKES

Newer front and rear brakes pads. Rotors are newer as well with no lip and virtually no wear. NO ABS lights, no TC lights! $400 in cost!

-SPRINGS and SHOCKS

Rover Classics left the factory with Electronic Air Suspension and while a nice feature, it can be expensive to upkeep and often those who venture out for camping or otherwise prefer the durability and reliability of coil springs. This Rover is one of the lucky ones which has been converted to BRAND NEW Terrafirma shocks and coil spring converted! No more EAS nail biting moments or worries. But, don't stop reading there! $850 here

-4WD SYSTEM

4WD Low and High both work great!

-MUDFLAPS

BRAND NEW mudflaps, brackets and hardware: $150

Let's continue to the exterior:

-PAINT

The paint is gorgeous! It is a 9 out of 10. Shiny, beautiful Beluga Black paint is BRAND NEW!!! This is a ZERO accident truck and was only repainted because the clearcoat from the factory can be compromised over time and fade. No bondo, no metal work. Primed with Transtar and painted with Glausrit, this was not a quick pay and spray job! It was painted by a highly talented (and NOT cheap) painter in Los Angeles. After it was painted it was then wet sanded and polished to a mirror shine. The pictures do it no justice. So much so, check out in the photos below - there is one photo indoors in nice light to show the depth and gloss better than what the open air photos show. NO ACCIDENTS! CLEAN CARFAX. NO STORIES. There was ZERO rust repair done and still has the original paint in the door jambs to prove its tidiness further. The sultry black paint is deep and has a wonderful luster! No roof fade or chipping! No hood fade or chipping! To keep the integrity of the body prior to paint even there were a few very minor dings on the body - rather than work the metal and likely need some bondo they were left alone. Being very minor and very hard to notice anyway, it was felt best to keep the truck honest. The truck looks much better than most 50k mile cars let alone a rugged truck, let alone a 22 year old truck! There are a few very minor inclusions that are small enough not to photo and are best described by just rating the truck a very solid 9/10. Even against more modern cars the paint will compete head to head - it really is beautiful. $6,300 in paint work, wet sanding and polishing!!!!

-DECALS

BRAND NEW correct 3D Rover lettering on front and rear including the "County LWB" decals! Exact OEM distances and placement and dead straight! $250

-ROOFRACK

Oh my, oh my. OEM Rover, LWB roof rack. Hen's teeth are seeming common place. This rack was a rare find when new and now, many, many racks have gone with unloved trucks to the crusher, or been repurposed. It pains me to sell the rack with the truck since the chances of me finding another for my other Rovers are likely zero.

-TIRES

BRAND NEW Hercules All Country AT tires with loads of tread life left on the tires! Fronts and rears have 100% tread left and are wonderful condition with NO leaks. These are 215/85/16 in size which is a hair taller than stock with a narrow-tall look to give that very UK style: $650

-WHEELS

Wheel faces have been refinished and polish up very nicely! OEM TWR 5-Spoke Wheels were removed, repaired of any minor curb marks or flaws and entirely repainted and clearcoated. They look great with only minor flaws.

-BUMPERS, VALANCES and PLASTICS

The bumpers are in wonderful shape and free of the typical missing or broken bumperettes that were for 1995 only! They are not made from the factory anymore and impossible to find this clean! End caps are in wonderful shape and free of sun fade. Check out the up close pics! No scuffs, no cracks, no rubs, no issues! They, along with the other plastic or rubberized plastic trim, shines beautifully! These little bits of trim quality and integrity drastically increase the look and beauty of a Rover! No cracks in the fog lights or the lower valance! Wiper sprayers have a little sun fade, but are unbroken, a true rarity.

-BRUSHGUARD

BRAND NEW powder coated OEM brushguard, including factory headlight guards! Beautiful powder coating job ready to last decades! OEM Rover Safari lights attached to the brushguard and look great and work perfectly! They are integrated into the stock factory fog light switch and light the road perfectly! Foam has two minor inclusions on each side and is not very noticeable. $625

-GLASS/MIRRORS

Not to let a pebble defeat this truck, this truck features an unchipped windshield! Beautifully clear glass makes a world of difference. It makes the truck feel brand new! The door glass is wonderful shape! Check out the mirror shots - no scuffs, rubs, paint etc so typical in trucks over time! No ink popped in the rear view center mirror! Another Rover miracle!

-TRAILER HITCH

The Rover has a factory trailer hitch and is plug ready!

Onto the cabin:

-SEATS

Take a moment, to go look at the BRAND NEW Tan Sorrell leather seats below, I will wait.....you back? I will give you a moment to reattach your jaw! BRAND NEW super high quality leather graces this cabin top to bottom! The old leather after 20+ years needed some love, so each seating panel was disassembled, measured and each new panel cut from the old to make the exact OEM pattern and used the exact OEM grain! You can not tell these are not a set of brand new factory seats that were put away since new! And let's not forget the smell! Wonderful, clean, leather interior smell. The material is SO soft and comfortable. I truly love driving this truck. You sit high and comfortably in these soft seats! Even when I get in the truck, I kind of raise myself up a little with the steering wheel as so that I sit down into the seat instead of sliding across it. I would hate to disturb how pretty they are! This alone was an extremely expensive job costing $3,800!

-CENTER CONSOLE and WOOD

The 1995 US Classic had a plastic console with a full wood insert that was cut for the automatic transmission and the Borg Warner transfer case. This console is a factory Rover manual transmission console! Note even the correct manual sticker on the front and LT230 pattern! The UK Rovers would have had an option for wood or rubber mat, but the wood would still be incorrect for the LT230. This truck has a the rubber mat with wood window switch panel. Again all factory factory parts. Wonderful center console wood and door wood showing only minor flaws at best. The console is a difficult piece to find at all let alone without some minor flaws This console has a small crack on the rear section just above the rear ashtray. Quite hard to notice and a small chip where the E-brake handle boot cover attaches to the console. It is unnoticeable with the e-brake, but the top of the boot slides behind the console when engaged. It does not cause any issues or need adjusting when you release the braking park. Kind of splitting hairs when just having the console is worth gold. BRAND NEW shift boot! $500

-DOOR PANELS

Check out the door panels! No broken speaker grills! Hurray! A Rover first! Speaker grills are one year only for the 1995 and made out of what I believe must be porcelain and toothpicks because if you even stare at them hard they break. This is a true sign of Rover care when they are whole. The map pockets too are beautiful only having one minor excuse which is a 1/2" chip in the corner of the drivers side. Its almost entirely unnoticeable.

-HEADLINER

BRAND NEW headliner looks fantastic! No sagging or flawed Rover glue to deal with anymore! $400

-CARPET

Beautiful carpet in the truck! It has been shampooed and cleaned as part of the overall detail. Check the carpet on the passenger side as it comes up the transmission tunnel - no stains from a leaking heater core! Floor mats front and rear are nice shape with only minor flaws/stains. Note the OEM Rover LWB floor mat in the rear! No longer for sale, they are hard to find period, let alone in nice shape!

-DASHBOARD

Gorgeous shape dash with very little wear! Shiny surfaces with no cracks in the leatherette. The cruise control does not work like 97% of Rover Classics, Disco and P38, but it has not been diagnosed either and could be a simple fix.

-POWER SEATS

BRAND NEW seat heaters! The heated seats are a known weak spot in the Rover world. Replacement of the OEM elements have only proven to lead to failures very quickly again. Fear not with this quality aftermarket heaters that have been wired into the factory heat switches. Press the button and after a few moments - warm buns! All power seat functions work perfect! Hard to find in a Range Rover Classic! $600

-POWER LOCKS

All doors lock with the twist of the key! A Rover rarity! New lock actuators on both front doors! $225

-POWER WINDOWS

All windows work smooth and quickly! Another rare find!

-RADIO

The OEM radio works great and sounds good! No blown speakers or issues!

-AC/HEAT

AC is arctic cold and heat is earth core hot! In fact, in 90 degree plus heat this week, I had to turn the AC DOWN because my finger tips were so cold!

-POWER MIRRORS

Power mirrors work perfectly!

-STEERING WHEEL

The leather is very nice, no tears or issues or major issues, very minor wear on the top only! It has been conditioned and feels great in your hands! It is a real rarity to find these wheels in good shape!

-CARGO AREA

Rear carpet is fantastic with only minor signs of use.

-THE OEM GOODIES

So this is a great reason I like to call this truck the "Westmidlands Edition": its "weekender" package. Check out the photos below of the amazing Rover gear. First is the Range Rover picnic basket, filled with its green and white checkered picnic cloth, Range Rover coffee mugs and individual green and white checkered napkins. Next, if its early enough when making your coffee, you will need your Land Rover OEM floodlight, perhaps just in flood mode, unless you would like to point it right at your french press, in which case, choose spot mode. This light is very bright too! After a day with the Misses enjoying the country side, open your Land Rover cooler bag and take your Land Rover corkscrew out to enjoy a bottle of white. Maybe you and the Misses though are having a tough because of how much you love your Rangie more than she. Well fear not, you have your best friend, the Land Rover Adventure Bear with you to keep you company! And in the case that you get lost, be sure to get out your Land Rover cell phone (!!!) and ring the local guides. What a great package of OEM Land Rover goodies that just make this truck come to together! I do not know if the cell phone works, and if it did, well I am not sure you could use it anyway, but hey I can dream. PRICELESS :)

The Experience

There is no Rover ownership like owning a very well sorted and thought out Rover. It is just a much different experience then any other. There is a tightness, a cleanliness, and sense of what this truck was like when brand new. The clunks, rattles and normal wear for a neglected car are gone. Let alone, remember every component only has that many few miles on it or has been rebuilt or serviced. Combined with LOADS AND LOADS of preventative and scheduled maintenance it really does not get any better for a Rover or any car for that matter. Driving this Classic is fantastic. It pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce. It has all the power it had from the factory an then some, and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. An off road guy? Though this truck has never been offroaded, one trip in a Rover in the dirt will have you hooked on the famed capabilities!

So what is it like to drive this beauty? You have to start at your approach to her. Glossy, clean and detailed, she sits just at the right height: a little tall, just enough to look the part, but not so much that you need to get some extra tattoos to own her. The classic British lines mixed with a deep, glossy black are inviting enough, but open that door and that burst of brand new leather comes at you, that it might as well be 1995 again. It is like climbing into a time machine! Turn the key and the V8 rumbles to life with its distinctive Rover burble and its slight tinniness too. Its a wonderful and unique combo. Close the door and it is all but quiet inside aside from your cold AC fan noise and few great sounding tunes. BUT UNLIKE ANY US CLASSIC OUT THERE... you easy the clutch down, you give the gas a little right foot of encouragement and let the light clutch up as you cruise away. Press the gas and off you go for a comfy cruise. You sit high, almost with an heir of "I'm just a bit better than the commoners" position with excellent vision in all directions. Need to pass that slow car in the right lane? Give her a boot of throttle and she revs up and surges past! But you again are in a LWB Rover! So time to pick up some friends with long legs or high expectations for comfort! A 6 foot tall guest can stretch his legs out fully! But it is Rover, so maybe its more than cruise today. Perhaps its time for a little trip with those friends camping. On the graded dirt roads, it is as if you haven't left the tarmac! And when the road turns to a little bouldering or a steep climb, while others are gearing down to 4L or turning around, you just keep a nice even foot and work your way up in the cold AC in your buttery soft brand new leather with your tall friends. The legendary Rover is just a thing of beauty both on road and off. Maybe it's also time to stop enjoy that afternoon coffee with your Rover picnic set. Or strap some goodies to the roof on your OEM rack and head out the Westmidlands!

The Wrap Up

I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned, beautiful and unique Land Rover. There are other Rover Classics, but if you do find one for sale and it has more methodical service, I urge you to buy it! And there certainly very few manual conversion RRC in the US, let alone ones that have been down with this level of thought and care in such a nice overall package! Remember, Rovers take some extra care and feeding, they are not a Honda, so a Rover with 50k miles with questionable, unknown or poor service history is worth about as much as a Slurpee if you add up all the service that will need to be done to make it a reliable, beautiful, solid truck again. Don't spend big money on a truck from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the truck is say a few things they think people like to hear. As you may tell from my ad, I know the care that these trucks need and the details that make them tier 1, from a tier 2 or worse and I hope to have addressed them to those of you that know as well. There are guys out there with nice trucks, which I love! But if an ad says "Low miles and well cared for" ask questions! If you don't get thorough, well addressed answers, start planning more money and more aspirin. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! If you were to add up all of the recent items in this truck, you would find well almost $25,000 in conversion, recent retail scheduled and preventive service and restoration alone. This truck would be HARD to replicate from just the sourcing of parts, let alone time, know-how and dedication. This truck is ready to go live another 150k+++ miles of beautiful, reliable, enjoyed life in your hands. Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend multiple times as much to get it to this level of service!

CA Residents: This truck just passed the notoriously hard California smog!

Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Residents around the country I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new truck as soon as possible.

My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The car is sold with no warranty. You are buying a used car. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to offer only cars that are of TOP NOTCH service and described accurately. I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Rovers (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these cars. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use despite its restoration. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new car. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 122,000 mile truck that has received some great refreshing cosmetically and mechanically. This is good miles for Rover of this year, but please just remember that no 122,000 mile car is perfect. It is though a clean, very nice Rover! Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the car I MORE than welcome it. Please have the car checked out before bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service. And please, if you would like to utilize this service, contact me with more than a couple days left in the auction so we can arrange schedules. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying. Buying over the internet can be scary sometimes! I get it, because I am an enthusiast too!! For that very reason, I am more than happy to answer every and any question you may so you know 100% what you are buying. But, please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase! It is impossible to list every pro and con of a car, I am not an inspection service. All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech.

Please feel free to ask any and all questions!!

There are a lot of pictures below, over 120! So please take the time to scroll through all of them!
