1995 Land Rover Range Rover County Description

This is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1995 Range Rover County Classic (short wheel base version). This is one of several Classics I own. Color is Alpine White with Tan Sorrel interior. I purchased it last August from eBay user world.proven.land.rover (Elias Christeas) who is a long time re-seller of Rovers on eBay. You can see the original listing on ebay, number 301713428635 and read more details there. The vehicle came from Indiana. The vehicle was delivered to Overlander in October, who inspected the car for me, then I towed it to my garage in Milton, MA where it has been stored all year.

1995 is the last year of the Range Rover Classic, as it is known. In this year Land Rover North America also sold the Range Rover County LWB with a 4.2L engine. The short wheelbase version has a 3.9L engine and was renamed the 'Classic' and given a special badge on the tailgate. Both the LWB and SWB had Electronic Air Suspension (EAS). Fun fact, when the Defender 90 was released, it earned the higher score ever on Four Wheel & Off Road's Ramp Travel Index test, the highest score of any vehicle in production at the time. The only car to beat it in 1995? The Range Rover County with EAS. While I am a 'hard dash' guy, many enthusiasts prefer the soft dash, which has more modern controls and updated electronics.

Special Features: Upgraded Engine: this vehicle has a upsized 4.2L engine which was donated by a LWB with 60,000 miles by a previous owner. OEM Running Board (as shown), OEM brush guard with driving lights. The windows are tinted. This vehicle has been converted to Coil Springs. New Tires added by overlander with no miles on them as I never registered the vehicle in Massachusetts. It has an Indiana title from the previous owner I will sign over to you. I added a new battery this summer. Overall I have put in $700 or so since I bought the car. The original manual is included, as are OEM floor mats.

Known Issues:

The vehicle has a number of issues associated with a vehicle of this vintage. I have described these and any other items I found below. In addition to the pictures included in this ad, I have a snapfish folder with extensive pictures here: 1995 Photos on Snapfish

Mechanical:

I took the vehicle to Overlander in Malden, MA. They informed me there is a leak in the power steering system. It will hold steering fluid for the purpose of moving the vehicle but it will drain over time. In addition, they found a break/deformity in the main pulley, which has caused a tear in the timing belt. You can see this in one of the pictures. The belt can be replaced but will fray again over time. This does not appear to affect the running of the vehicle. The exhaust system has three holes in it. The largest is a 6" long hole in the resonator. There is a 3" hole in the tailpipe before the resonator, and another smaller hole in-line. The tailpipe is missing. The engine runs fine, although I have had problems with the idle (engine dies). This may be related to the fact that I haven't driven the vehicle. I have a handyman who runs it every week or so.

Electronic:

The power seats are currently inoperative. The control for the driver's seat is missing the bezel and the lower and upper buttons. I did not test the seat heater or cruise control.

Cosmetic:

This vehicle appears to have spent some time in the sun. Please take a look at the pictures to review the following: There are a couple pin-point rust spots on the bonnet. In addition, there is some rust around the tailgate in the usual areas. There is rust on the brushguard and some peeling of the powder coat, as well some rust on the chrome front bumper. Not too much rust on the chrome bumper, but there is spider-webbing of the chrome. The paint on the forward roof columns is whitened as you can see in the pictures. I don't know if this is fading. You can see it looks a little cloudy.

There is rust inside the engine compartment along the top of the firewall (see pics) and on the bottom of the bonnet. One of the finger handles in the door cards is missing, and two others are chipped. One rear passenger lock surround is missing (see pictures). There is some reddish residue on the door kicks and in the rear - looks like clay-soil from down south. There are a couple tears in the vinyl trim pieces under the seat. There is a hold in the kick-board under the passenger dash (see photo). There is some fading of the wood veneer in the from from sun damage. There is a some dry rot of the rear side window seals, most likely sun damage as well. Some of the gasket on the sunroof also shows dry rot and swelling (see picture) The louver vent is missing from the left rear roof pillar.

The upper bonnet has dimpling/creasing on both sides (see pictures). There are typical chips visible along the roof line. There are some larger dings on the roof. The right rear upper fender (I call this the 'castle' has a large dent and scratch, approximately 3" long.
