Presenting the first and only Marianis Black Range Rover Classic in the world.I have promised many that I was saving the best vehicle for last, and here she is!Having had the opportunity to acquire this A-List vehicle, I was immediately inspired to elevate it to the next level… but how?She had already been serviced almost exclusively at a local Bentley/Rolls Royce service center so I knew I had a platform of pedigree and world class attention to evolve from.And then it dawned on me… the slogan that Land Rover uses with regard to its new generation of vehicles is “Everything they ever were, but better.”Such became my pathos for every restorative decision made here.Let’s take this already legendary one year only model and honor Range Rover Classic Heritage while making her go toe to toe with the 2016 Full-Sized HSE’s.Melding the highest class styling options and in-car technology that the ’95 designers could have only dreamed about, I have created something here that for me, dwarfs any other example by comparison.This truck is investment level all the way and I offer nearly 100 high definition photographs (and Tolstoy length narratives) to help you fall in love with her as much as I have.It’s time to rethink everything you thought possible for a 1995 LWB and leave the rest in our dust… or if you choose - your back up camera…

The Look:

I was blown away by the look and feel of the entirely reupholstered interior.It was sumptuous and stately all at once and the traditional ’95 Beluga Black didn’t cut it anymore for me.Marianis Black seemed to me the obvious choice in color.It is a new color.A premium factory upgrade.It is a very bold color.While at first glance she appears to be a deep black, closer inspection will reveal her deep secrets that her namesake would suggest you’ll find.There is a pearl undertone that is a dazzling balance of blue, silver, gold, black and red flake.The polish on this truck is so deep and so fine that you can actually see the reflection of water vapor in its mirror like surface.Marianis Black makes this truck appear to be an impressionist work of art.With light being the key ingredient to perception, she will chameleon like adapt to a multitude of conditions offering the most breathtaking reflections of sun and sky.We don’t often think of vehicle colors this way.It has a personality and flavor all its own and it will keep you coming back for more.I cannot get enough of this truck in that respect alone.It’s a wonderful feeling to be moved by color – and in a vehicle that you will drive every day makes it even more of a treat.

The Jet Black leather interior is one of the best resto’s I’ve seen.And thorough too!Not only are the seats redone, every single panel has been re-skinned to match.It completes the look and creates an almost cinema-like vault on the inside.It has never been a smokers car and with its recent concourse detail and new headliner she smells brand new inside.Additionally, the carpets were all redone in an upgraded pile to match the leather and it is velvet to the touch and in my opinion, the carpet that they should have put in there originally! Rounding out the upgrades, I opted to have full-security tint replace the aging factory blue.It is polarized and UV resistant offering its passengers (and interior) the most protection available.Internal visibility is excellent – the tint is designed to be more like a one way mirror – allowing you the visibility of the outside world while keeping everything and everyone’s prying eyes there!

Original trim is still in excellent condition.The one year only soft-dash is pristine.The instrument binnacle is excellent, the center dash/vent cluster is solid and uncracked and the burled wood is tight, dark, and still highly reflective.

The original finishing bits on the outside are also in pristine order: the chrome bumpers are highly reflective and pit free.All mirrors, valances, runners, badges, letters and moldings are brillian, sturdy, and clean.All lamps and lenses are clean, bright, and beautiful.The special 95 TWR wheels are clean and bright with minimal wear and tear.The rear upper quarters were refinished and complete the tended to look of this luxurious exterior.

I was at a traffic light in down town BH on my way home after the photo shoot and a driver of another exotic rolled down his window and told me that this was the most beautiful Range Rover he had ever seen.Sometimes the camera’s aren’t rolling when they should be, but I appreciated the feedback, she has been a long work in progress.People recognize this truck for what she is and that made me feel very, very proud.

The Drive:

This beauty fires right up and the fully serviced 4.2l V8 idles perfectly with menacing potential.There are no ticks, knocks, stumbles, stutters or hesitation.She is all power.Thrown in drive and your foot on the gas, she surges off the line and you can leave almost anything in your rear view.She does not overheat and thanks to the 160 degree triple bridge thermostat (the same equipment I race with) and cooling system overhaul, she has kept her cool under the most grueling of conditions here in the LA area.

Taken to the motorways, she has effortless power meeting posted speeds and beyond.There are no wanders, shimmies, or shakes.Just railroad car like comfort.

To that point, we still have the factory air suspension to thank for that!I am a huge fan of factory EAS and it works brilliantly here.She achieves all 3 height levels at the touch of a button and all self-leveling functions work too – meaning highway safe mode and park discharges.She does not lean, list, or leak down AT ALL and this is something that every Range Rover owner is to be proud of.

Additional comfort (and capability) is provided here with the original Michelin XMS tires.I save these from never on the ground 5th wheel spares and when fitted, you will instantly realize why they were selected in the first place.Noise free operation even at high speed, there is virtually zero rolling resistance making handling at all speeds totally effortless.Get these things off road and they will dig better than most modern off road tires and if necessary, these have the ability to be studded – for ice driving – just in case getting to gramma’s house this holiday season involves crossing the Siberian Peninsula.

Should that be the case, the heat works great and will keep things cozy.When latitudes are more equatorial, the serviced AC is biting cold.Added insulation from the elements is offered here by the polarized/UV solar tint.

And now for the big one, comfort and convenience are offered here in an info-tainment package that rivals the equipment found in new model Range Rovers.This set up is highly intuitive and totally customizable.

AT THE TOUCH OF THE SCREEN you can select and program your favorite channels.For an optimal listening experience, you can choose from a dozen factory equalizer presets, create your own OR modify the factory presets! This high powered unit makes the original Harmon Kardon audio come to life, and yes the original subwoofer works too! When AM/FM doesn’t fit the bill, she can connect to a vast array of devices via a multitude of inputs and when audio music isn’t desired anymore – why not watch a movie?Better yet, why not watch the pre-loaded “In search of the experience” feature length documentary about the Land Rover culture in America, made by yours truly.This documentary has been featured in Land Rover magazines worldwide and is no longer available for sale.This one is one from my media reserves collection and will be personalized with an autograph to the winner.The navigation system in this unit is incredible.Incredibly easy to… well… navigate, you can find your way to anywhere, from anywhere, in 2D or 3D, in custom colors if you choose, with various info, presets, and real time traffic conditions all displayed crisp and clearly.Another nice feature of this Nav set up are such things like auto sound dim when special alerts are displayed including construction events, accidents, and posted speed limits (when you exceed them).As if all of that isn’t enough, I took this set-up one step further and integrated a back up camera/park assist feature that is as accurate as you can hope within millimeters of distance.The resolution and viewing angle is so good, you can literally split the distance between a parked vehicle and your rear bumper with a credit card.For what it’s worth, while touch screen is nice, you needent lift a finger as this unit is entirely remote controlled as well.

The Wall Street Journal recently had an article boasting how vintage SUV’s like the Range Rover are becoming the newest status symbol.Breaking the mold from the ordinary choices of new exotics, the best of the best offer each owner originality and distinction.I couldn’t agree more.I have loved the Range Rover Classic for as long as I can remember and It’s been a thrill to see them take their place now alongside Defenders, air-cooled Porsches and so forth.They are, in my opinion, better.This particular truck illustrates my love of the original, with a passion for brand potential.I think she will be right at home for the collector, but she is also built to be enjoyed daily.Celebrated and loved.So whether it’s a reverence for all things new furnished with this vehicle, or novel enjoyment of original equipment like air suspension and seat memory functions, she is designed to allow all of these things their own time and place, measure for measure.I can go on and on, but whoever the lucky winner is I think you will find the same things I have grown to love about here – but you get to write its unique history.I have no doubt that this special vehicle is headed to a special new home, and to that I say Happy Holidays, Happy Bidding and Happy Rovering!
