Introduction:

This has been my personal pleasure vehicle since last summer. She has been a dream to own, drive and work on and now that she’s finally right where I want her to be…I have found her replacement!I recently scooped up an Alaskan Blue 87 that I intend to make amazing (I had one once and have always regretted selling it) like one I had a long time ago. While the 95 is considered by most to be the king of all RRC’s I’ve just fallen in love with the humble little servant – this 87.I have loved owning this 95; it has mostly enjoyed the PCH cruising up to Malibu and back with a few surf trips along the way.I am fully confident you will love it just as much.

Driving & Performance:

I’m proud to say this gal performs just as amazing in LA’s recent monsoon season as she has all summer long.Constant battering from water has revealed she’s drum tight with no leaks anywhere, no ready-in-waiting electrical gremlins as well as being able to confirm that rear defrost and front windscreen demist actually work!!!This timeless beauty not only looks the part, she plays it exceptionally well! She fires right up and the motor whirs to life with Swiss-watch precision. The motor is quiet, smooth, tic/knock/overheating free with tons of available power. That said, every hour put on the motor the valve job continues to bed-in and open up – more and more powerful as time goes on.Power is added here with the Borla Pro exhaust system.Always quiet while cruising, she is the perfect balance of V8harmony and subtle roar when you punch the accelerator. The transmission shift quality is positively F1 like with no slippage, shudder, or hesitation at all.The shift points are incredibly smooth and positive and they go virtually undetected, even under deceleration, where you tend to feel kick back from load on the transfer case.To that point, the Borg Warner transfer case does not bind or grind at all and there is no whistle or howl as you find yourself under aggressive acceleration.

With some time on my hands I have gone deeper with her – replacing all drivetrain mounts and trans pan seal… but racers mentality had me go a bit deeper.“Well, since im in THERE, I might as well do THIS…” And that lent itself to dropping the tranny, putting in a new rear main seal, cross seals, and sump seal as well as all tranny cooler lines and unions.

I drive all of my vehicles hard.I have full intention of sorting every last gripe that comes to my attention. Why?First off, it’s simply just easier for me to fix it than to hope it heals itself and more importantly, I would rather it break in the shop instead of on race day (meaning, I look towards reliability. To get home from the supermarket. To make it back from the movies. To withstand the perils of a ginding line at the Starbucks Drive-Thru window)! After a major overhaul, I really push my vehicles and expect them to perform. And what I find that falls short, gets fixed. The result is greater peace of mind I have been commuting with her daily and she is relentlessly reliable in all conditions.Of course due to the top-end overhaul including a personal touch – the 160 degree, triple bridge, single bypass thermostat. It’s the same one I race with and really takes care of the motor under the most demanding conditions. To top it off, you spotters may see pink coolant in the new reservoir. Why?Land Rover XLC coolant is the newest available for high performance aluminum engines. It cools better, transfers heat away better and the result is a cooler, less corrosive formula that protects in a way “the green stuff” used in 95 just couldn’t!

A WORD ON HOW FANTASTIC EAS IS – The purists will argue that the original Range Rover was coil sprung and it should have never been messed with. The other camp of purists will argue that EAS is what makes a Range Rover a Range Rover.I would agree with both camps, for different reasons but I will say that when you have a vehicle such as this, with life-long attention paid to the EAS system, you will experience the BEST ride quality available in any RRC.If you never have, and always wondered, you will be blown away by the comfort level while crossing speed bumps, pot holes, crowned and dipped road unions among others. And let’s not be humble and beat around the bush – in a line up of nice looking RRC’s at any club function, where owners have subscribed to the consensus that coil sprung conversions are the way to go, guess which vehicle will take all the attention when you swoop in, and exit the vehicle once “access height” lowers you to almost sports car like height! From this point on in its life, EAS maintenance is easy and straight forward in my opinion. And considering it’s only a couple hundred bucks to swap in a set of coil springs, why not give it a go and experience a 95 the way they were intended! It is a great feeling, and I for one, love it.

The brakes have been overhauled too. With brand new rotors and sport pads in all corners, you achieve great stopping power with zero noise, minimal dust, and no ride rattle. This set up has about a month on it and again, with every hour put on them, increases in power. If you need to, you can stand this truck on its head!

The Pirelli Scorpion ATR’s were a great replacement to the stock XMS’s.They have an aggressive look, are the correct stock size and have racing pedigree to back the brand which is nice. While newly fitted, the fronts are slightly more worn – as to be expected – I expect these would serve a season or so before you go looking for replacements.

As I have said, this Rover drives with more sense of purpose than her peer group and I’m confident that within the first 5 minutes you’ll agree. That’s what a loved quality product over time is all about!

Aesthetics & Operation:

She’s undoubtedly timeless, stately, and luxurious. She owes the preservation of her interior to fanatical attention. The open glass leaves the cabin nice and bright and the original woodwork and paneling retain their original warmth.

The Beluga Black refinish is ultra smooth and undeniably reflective.Running your fingers over her glossy surface the vehicle actually feels soft.I have shared as many pictures as possible in varied light to illustrate how 1) Factory Perfect the color is and 2) How nuanced and rich the tones are depending on ambient lighting.Pay close attention to the floating clouds in some of her glamour shots… she is positively mirror finished and polished to perfection. No, you can’t make 20+ year old stamped aluminum brand new.But every effort to reverse the signs of fine lines and wrinkles has been made and it shows!

All original finishing and materials are in good to excellent condition. The soft-dash is clean and knick free. The carpeting is still soft and clean. All door cards are tidy and sturdy. The wood work is clean and still rather dark but the center console tray exhibits typical tiger striping in the veneer. Please see featured photos.

Pay close attention to the detailed photos of common stress areas – they are factory fresh and rust free. All bulkhead, floorpan, rear tray, arches and jambs… all clean and tight.

The OEM Harmon Kardon Audio is crystal clear and powerful – made even better by the upgraded high power Pioneer Blue Tooth unit. This is a nice upgrade over stock audio output and allows for hands free, modern music and communication applications.

The headliner is brand-new and from top to bottom, she feels (and even smells) like a new car.To that point, she has never been a smokers car and there are no lingering odors in the cabin or ventilation system.

The AC is serviced and works BRILLIANTLY.Your exposed skin is freezing in minutes and thankfully, the heating works just as well to take the bite away!

Lights, horns, blinkers, windows, handles, latches, etc all work too, cruise does not. There is a smaller than dime sized ping on the front windscreen, the chrome rims are nice and bright but have some pitting on the inner louvers but outside of that I cannot spot any other cosmetic gripes.

Purchasing, Perspective & Why Buy From Me:

Please read my outstanding feedback from folks like you!No one sends off a Land Rover or Range Rover better than me, PERIOD.It’s the vehicle I drive, and the vehicle I RACE.Nearly two decades of Rover ownership and service are poured into every Rover that I see into new hands.

The commitment to service here is a commitment to my own passion and to a shared bond between enthusiasts. You won’t find that anyplace else – although more and more of late, many try to copy.Beware of any vintage Rover that does not share the same service points as the ones I list here with my collection.I am not a Land Rover tech that drives home in a Honda Civic.I come from a long line of British Car technicians and Live, Breathe and even RACE the green oval.I understand ALL of your concerns and needs and do my best to ensure that you will be happy based on a simple, yet powerful concept:DOES THIS VEHICLE MAKE ME HAPPY?WOULD I PUT MY FAMILY IN IT? WOULD I LOVE TO HAVE IT?The answer is always yes.And that’s when I know they are ready.I care.I know you do, too.

To that point - watch out for my copy cats.It has come to my attention that people claim they work with/partner with me.This is not true.If you aren’t buying one from me… its, well, NOT from me!!!

THE IDEA OF "NEW TO ME VS. A NEW CAR"

New cars have warranties because… new cars break! What lines the service bays of Rover dealerships around the world?I’m willing to bet a lot of you know! While I am VERY proud of each and every Rover that I hand select and hand-craft, the vast majority of them are 20+ years old.As amazing as all of them are, i wouldnt ever say any of them are "perfect."None of them are and I have only used the term museum piece ONCE – and I am well aware of the qualifiers for that monicker. These trucks, as refreshed as they are, are assemblies of new parts, used parts, remanufactured parts and ORIGINAL parts. They are all, to quote a mentor of mine: “Ships of Theseus.”

With each and every listing, i try to capture the flavor of what strikes me about each vehicle.I try to capture their essence.I try to make the description feel like a conversation between you and I, or even a phone call.

It is not possible to discuss every nut and bolt, but I have done my best to list and discuss what would matter to ME.Let me know what matters TO YOU.If you feel like I have passed by something, I hope that it’s evident I have no problems with expounding on details so please ASK.In fact, the only thing I can think of that doesn’t work is cruise control. While she may soon be “new to you” she is “not new” and you should be prepared for all that is involved with owning a used vehicle. She is sold as-is without warranty or exception and there are no refunds. That said, there are not any GROSS ISSUES that concern me about her overall reliability, cosmetics and functionality.I invite you to ask ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS NOW! Yes, this truck was involved in some kind of left front corner "incident" a few years ago. And while this concerns some people, its of no concern for me because the airbags didn't open, this decision was based on an insurance adjuster using KBB value, and beyond that, she has gone through rigorous state inspections that certify a perfect frame, lighting and electrical functioning. Above all that, I have spent so much time crawling over and under and through her, I'm proud to say shes one of the best classics I've ever owned...

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE – ASK AWAY!

Your satisfaction is the goal here.Additionally, eBay offers a 3rd party inspection service to verify ALL of your acquisition needs IN PERSON. In fact, I would insist, pending any substantial investment that this service be taken seriously. Purchase of the vehicle = SATISFACTION.Once this auction is over, the winning bid and purchase imply that satisfaction has been achieved and will be understood as such.

This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION so you are bidding to win! Please make sure that you bid ONLY what you are prepared to pay. This means, when the auction is over, and the winning bid is placed, this becomes THE SALE PRICE of the vehicle.Under no circumstances does it open the door to negotiate or back out of your commitment. The people bidding for this vehicle actually want it.Do not spoil their chances at ownership by arm-chair bidding.Yes, everyone joins eBay at some point, and there is no prejudice against lower transaction numbers here – HOWEVER – if I suspect and/or become aware of any insincerity on the part of said bidder, I reserve the right to cancel all bids from and block that insincere bidder from this auction.I openly welcome new bidders, but please do not bid if you cannot follow through.

To that point, I am almost always in contact with the winning bidder before the auction ends.GOOD CLEAR COMMUNICATION is essential from both sides.Communication regarding payment and shipping is immediate and should not take longer than 7 days.I don’t expect anything less.

Completion of this transaction is fairly straight forward.Once the auction is over, I will be contacting the winner immediately and we can discuss sending ownership materials and payment. The time to understand your states “out of state” registration process is now.Nothing is more of a buzz kill than getting your dream truck delivered, and then being informed that you needed to have out of state vehicle transfer form 247-1 stamped and notarized on a full moon 3 months prior etc etc etc… Lets figure out what you need now!

Who Is This Truck For?

I have loved this truck for a long time and regrettably am passing it on because I have found a carbon copy of an 87 I had that I let go of a while ago. Some may think I'm crazy trading up a 95 to an 87... but for all the reasons that we love 95's being the last of the line up and so forth, I view the '87s with the same glasses. they were the 1st ones here, they straddle the fence between the REALLY older classics and more modern NAS examples. Be that as it may, the 95 is a perfect daily driver or cars and coffee type vehicle and will make the newbie or veteran very happy. Happy Bidding and Happy Rovering!
