1999 Lexus LS Description

This 1999 Lexus LS400 is being relisted due to a non-paying bidder who "couldn't get the loan". I don't know which is worse, bidding with money you don't have or needing a loan to buy a 17 year old car. Please make sure you are bidding with real money. Let's try this agein.

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms &Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.

Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1999 Lexus LS400 sedan. The LS is the flagship of the Lexus brand. When Toyota first decided to go into the luxury market, they took extraordinary measures to make sure the top shelf car of their new luxury brand was the best it could possibly be. The result is the Lexus LS400. I would rate the exterior of this specific LS400 to be in BELOW AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The classic black and gray finish definitely shows its age as there are flaws and imperfections all around. In the photos, the black color hides most of this. Please be aware that this car will not look as good in person as it does in the photos. Realistically, I'd say this car is a 20 footer. While there is no substantial damage on the exterior, the age of the car is evident. There are scratches, faded spots and other blemishes in the finish on virutally every panel. Also, there is a small piece of cladding missing in front of one of the rear wheels. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. The hood struts are worn and weak fromage. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The headlights show some hazing from age and the right low beam is out. The finish on the factory alloy wheels isn't really great. The tires show good tread, though. I am trying to be as hard on this car as I can so that you're pleased with it and it meets your expectations. Please take the time to check out each of the photos carefully.

I would rate the interior of this LS400 to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards show some wear but are acceptable for the age of the car. The carpets also show a little age but are acceptable overall. The dash and headliner are clean. The plastic for the center vents is missing, as can be seen in the photos. The wood trim shows well for its age. The power windows, locks, seats, sunroof and mirrors all still work properly. The leather seats are comfortable and show minimal wear. Both front seats are heated. The factory audio system still sounds good. There is a CD player above the glove box, too. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. The heater works as it should and the air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR. The rearview mirror is in the trunk...it must have come off and the previous owner saved it. The trunk is spacious and clean. The spare tire is missing. Again, please take your time to check out each of the photos carefully.

Mechanically, this LS400 appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 4.0L V8 is the centerpiece of these great cars. It is basically a de-tuned version of a TRD racing engine. With a pedigree like that, it's no wonder you see so many of these with 300K+ miles. The engine starts easily. She runs a little rough sometimes at first start up but smooths right out once you give her a few seconds. The check engine light came on during my road test (bank 1 system too lean was the code). That is most likely something simple like an oxygen sensor or maybe a knock sensor. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine doesn't smoke. Her road manners are good for an older car. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good. The brake pad wear warning is on so you'll probably need new brake pads soon...but the car stops just fine. The engine makes good power and keeps perfect temperature. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts perfectly with no issues. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with no complaints. As I've said before, this isn't the best looking one out there so you probably won't impress anyone with this LS400. However...if you're looking for a sturdy, reliable and comfortable sedan to drive the snot out of and rack up a bunch of miles, this car should do you just fine. I bought this car a while ago and there was some delay on the title on the seller's end so the car got parked while awaiting the title to come. Then, as I am known to do, I completely forgot about this car. I got a call from the auction asking when I was coming for it. I asked them to park it in storage so I could come get it one night...then it got cold and snowed 3' and I forgot about it again. I was going through my files and came across the title to a Lexus that I couldn't find at my warehouse...then I remembered this poor car just sitting and waiting for me to pick it up. I pickedher up, put a new battery in her and she fired right up. The bank 1 system lean issue may clear itself up if you just drive it. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
