1999 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Sport Description

Beautiful 1999 Mercedes SL500. Highly desirable and rare color combo of Magma Red with Shell interior, and Sport package. Power softop, and also includes hardtop. Fully loaded with 10 way seats, automatic climate control, 3 position seat memory, garage door control, remote locking storage, tilt/telescoping steering column, concealed tape deck, trunk mounted Mercedes factory 6 disc CD changer, etc.
MSRP over $90k new. I bought the car from a dealer in Florida in early 2012 for $13,400 not including tax and shipping car up to Illinois. Car came from Florida, has always been garaged. Car glides along the road, is incredibly smooth.
On the car currently are updated Mercedes 19inch wheels and wider tires that have about 500 miles on them at the most, these did not come with the car I bought them and had them mounted/balanced and put on the car. Gives car a great updated look, and meatier stance with the 19 s and wider tires. Also I put on an updated style Mercedes front grille, makes a huge different doesn't look like a 90's car anymore. Car has additional couple of thousand dollars in these upgrades. Reserve price is $9,000 firm, car will happily sit in garage and be driven on nice days if not sold.

I do have the original 18inch AMG sport wheels that came with the car. Included in the sale is either set (not both). If you want the 18inch AMG wheels mounted, please let me know and I’ll take it to Discount Tire and have them mounted on car. The wheels are in great condition and the tires have plenty of tread life remaining on them there was nothing wrong with them I just wanted 19inch wider wheels on car. I also believe I have the original front grille in a box, will include that in sale if I can find it. Battery is about a year old. Has the windscreen tucked away in trunk.

I am not a dealer this is my fun car only used on nice days, title in hand. There are two issues with the car I am aware of (1) when I changed the battery last spring, the radio needs a code to unlock it. I’ve been told you call the dealer with the VIN and they will give you a code for it but I never listen to radio in car haven’t unlocked it. (2) the small glove box above the center vent seems to be stuck in lock position. I don’t know what I did with it, my neighbor down the street has an SL500 and said it could be in valet mode but I have no clue how to undo the valet mode if that’s what it is. Guessing its something stupid and easy to fix, but wanted to mention it.
3 videos I put online to show the top up and down and engine running with a walk around.Look in the videos and notice the condition of the soft top and rear window, is almost brand new. The rear window is crystal clear.

Included in sale is the hardtop stand that I have been using, it is on rollers and moves around in garage nicely if you need it. It can come apart so will tuck it in trunk for buyer; it is very easy/simple to put together.
