1970 Mercury Cyclone GT Description

THE CAR: VIN# 0H16M555297, they only made ~ 16K of these Cyclone GT's in 1970. Who knows how many are left and they are quite rare to find. Yellow with a black interior, the car has the hideaway headlights, PS, PDB, A/C with tinted glass and a floor shifter with the console, a 351C-4V, AT, 9" rear, and dual exhaust.
THE HISTORY: This car is the perfect restoration project. I bought it from Houston TX and drove it to NYS with no problems (a 1550 mile trip) with a plan to restore it. I never drove it in the winter so it has never seen snow or salt in it's life. It's a fun car to drive, it handles, accelerates and stops well, comfortable seating for 5 and it's 160K miles are a testament to that. I drove it a few times in the summer then it would not start, I suspect with the high mileage on the car it jumped a tooth on the timing chain, so the engine needs a rebuild with that kind of mileage. The only thing I can see that's not original on the car is a Holley carb upgrade.
THE PAINT & BODY: This 46 YO car is in totally unbelievable unmolested original condition with what appears to be original sheet metal, paint, bumpers, glass, every original nut and bolt appears to be on this car so no need to do a lot of parts searching and shopping to restore this one. Being a southern car it's entire life the underneath is stunning for a car it's age! The all original frame and floor pans look fantastic also. It does not have much rust on the body but it does have some dents, but not from collision (it appears to me that the car was never in an accident). The story I was told when I bought it was that someone was mad at the owner and kicked the car in several places creating the dents. It does have the usual Cyclone body design problems so it has rust where the moisture traps are, the trunk panel needs to be replaced (it's rusted out underneath the drop down on the inside) and the drop down area on the hood is rusted on the inside as well which could be fixed or the hood could simply be replaced. I do have those two replacement body parts available for sale separately from the sale of the car from Texas if you are interested. It is missing two chrome trim pieces on the right side of the body that the Cyclone GT's came with between the body color and the flat black on the bottom and the passenger door mirror.
MECHANICAL: The car has a 351C-4V, automatic transmission and a 9" rear end.

BOTTOM LINE: If you need more pictures of a particular area just ask and I will take them for you. I realize I am never going to get around to restoring it and am scaling down my collection from two classic cars to one. That is why I am selling it, so my loss is your gain and I am not interested in any trades at this time. Since it's a non driver at this time, the car will need to be trailered to it's new home. The car will not come with the 15" wheels and tires shown in the photos as I need them for my other classic car so, it will come with roller wheels and tires on it. My reserve price leaves plenty of room for the restoration. $1000 non-refundable deposit via paypal within 24 hrs of purchase. Remaining balance due by bank wire transfer or certified bank cashiers check within 72 hours of purchase. Funds will need to clear before the vehicle will be released.
