1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Hatchback 2-Door Description
This type of car doesn't come around too often.
Summary:Up for sale is a 1997 Eclipse GSX, turbo, 5spd manual, with 64,500 original miles. Mechanically, the car is very sound. Strong motor, strong transmission, and many new parts; including (but not limited to): 16g turbocharger, fuel injectors, ball joints, timing belt, battery, and master slave cylinder. This is a great opportunity to buy an incrediblylow-mileage, rare car for thousands less than it probably could go for if I were to fix the paint issues. You probably won't find another one like this anywhere.
Items I will Fix:There are still a few things I need to replace on the car before I sell it, but I figured I'd post this ad now to gauge interest. Below are additional things that need replacing, which I will replace prior to delivery to the new owner. These are all currently being worked on by
Street Tuned Motorsports ("STM" - one of the best shops in the country for these cars), and should be completed in the next few weeks.- There is a small leak in the exhaust manifold, so I purchased a new oem exhaust manifold that will replace the old, tubular one on there now
- New brakes and/or brake flush
- Driver side door lock repair (currently doesn't work)
- New OEM motor mount (current one is too stiff)
Things I'm NOT Fixing:Aesthetically, the car needs a few things:
- Rear hatch needs to be repainted
- Passenger door needs to be repainted
- Various blemishes and spots on the car that need to be repainted and/or buffed out
Car's BackstoryAccording to the previous owner, this car was intended to be a track car. With that goal in mind, a roll cage was installed, built motor put in, better suspension installed, and the A/C / cruise control / stereo / spoiler removed. However, due to an unforeseenfinancial situation of the previous owner, the car was never finished and never made it to the track. I picked the car up a few days ago, and have been restoring it. I don't have any info on the build of the motor, but from what I can tell it seems very new and very strong. The previous owner had the car sitting in a garage for the past 2 years, and started it every week just to keep things running. STM is going over the entire car, and I will replace any other parts and perform any other servicing they recommend.
If this car doesn't sell for at least the starting bid price, I will fix the "NOT Fixing" list and sell the car for a few thousand dollars more next month. Take advantage of this opportunity to own this super rare, super low mileage classic at a great price.
