TOYOTA LAND CRUISER FJ62 *CLEAN*
1989 Toyota Land Cruiser Description
Just restored (started with a mint truck to begin with) and for sale. 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62. 4 WHEEL DRIVE! Has 189k original miles. Truck has been owned by two people, a father and a son. Excellently maintained. Truck has been over every nut and bolt and extensively upgraded or repaired. Truck had almost no rust at all except for 3 small dime sized spots in the very middle of flat panels where a ladder had been leaning against it in a garage for the past 2 years. These were professionally repaired by cutting and welding in new metal. No hack job or goops of filler. Pictures speak for themselves. Paint was in very good condition, but due to the small repairs we decided to have it professionally repainted the factory Toyota color. 2 stage, with 4 coats of clear. Its stunning. Done correctly, all trim removed, not just taped up. Suspension is all brand new with maybe 20 miles. Old Man Emu springs, shocks, bushings, steering stabilizer, etc. Over 1700 spent on suspension parts alone. Interior is one of the cleanest I've ever seen.
Mechanically:
Excellent. Transmission shifts crisp and smoothly. Fluid just changed and seals checked. 4 wheel drive works great. Engine is very strong, and all fluids have been changed and flushed. Engine has been "desmogged" which eliminates lots of problems. Due to age, this is legal in all 50 states and simplifies any future repairs. As it has been desmogged we did add a used smog pump but for the sole purpose to place power steering belt into factory location. The use of the smog pump is not set up. All belts are new...including a new bracket which allows for tighter belts for power steering. New oil pan gasket. New Toyota brand rear main seal! New valve cover gasket, and valve cover sandblasted and painted factory silver. New spark plugs, and tuneup. Runs great. Not a leak, oil or coolant or anything. Brakes are basically new. Brand new (20 miles) master cylinder, brake booster, hard brake lines on axles and other known problem areas. New rotors and pads on front. New pads and rear wheel cylinders out back. Lot of time and money spent.
Fuel System:
All fuel work done by Toyota. The fuel system was entirely replaced including a new fuel tank lined with a new coat on the inside to prevent any corrosion in the tank. All injectors replaced. The fuel pump was entirely replaced as well. replaced igniter coil, new igniter assembly kit and hoses. Everything works flawlessly and starts up every time it is cranked.
Suspension:
Entire suspension is new and nice! Axles were removed and professionally serviced including rebuilding the front wheel bearings, steering knuckles using Toyota brand bearings and seals, and properly packing. Camber and Caster were properly set and Brand new Old Man Emu 2-3" lift springs and shocks were installed. This thing rides amazing - the best lift you can buy for this truck hands down. Lots of attention to detail and practically a new truck parts wise.
new outer tie rod. Computerized 4 wheel alignment.
Body and Paint:
A few very small rust holes were present due to it being stored in a garage with a ladder leaning against it. They have been professionally repaired the RIGHT way by cutting out the metal, welding in (not just patching over) new metal, and grinding smooth. Other than the small dime sized metal repairs this truck is in amazing condition. You won't find any rust anywhere else on the body. Once the small holes were repaired, the entire vehicle was given over 80 hours of body work, and then painted with the factory toyota red. Paint is stunning - better than when it was new. Wet sanded and buffed and really shines. All chrome has been removed, polished and refitted using new clips wherever needed. The only areas that aren't perfect are the front grill and rear tailgate chrome trim. See pictures for both. Front grill is plastic and peeling a bit in areas. Could easily be painted, or a new grill can be fitted in a matter of minutes - I just haven't found one yet. The rear trim piece is very thin metal and has a small hole in it. Easily repaired and painted, or a new one can be sourced. Other than that, this car is pristine!!
Tires:
Near new condition aggressive mud tires. Surprisingly very quiet on the road and ride really well. Was going to replace them but they rode so well I decided to leave them. Tread is great, and will really claw up and grade or thru any mud you want.
Interior:
Super clean interior. All factory original grey. Very very clean and has been professionally detailed. Every thing works like it should with the exception of needing a rear passenger side window switch. They're about 15 bucks. Bought one, but is a brown switch - wrong color. Will repair with new grey switch should it be desired. Only damage to the interior is a slight rip in the driver seat side. Very common, and easily fixed. The dash looks good, but has some light cracking in it due to age. Doesn't look that bad though, and a new dash is simple to fit if desired. The rest of the upholstery is in spectacular condition! Every the headliner is in great shape. Rear trunk cargo area is clean and not all beat up. Door panels look almost new! Really clean, better than any I've ever seen. Heat blows hot, and the AC has been converted to 134a and works ICE cold. All lights, switches, and dash components work as they should..only thing needed is a new blinker switch. This is a classic restored land cruiser and drives great in the lowcountry. I am sad to let her go but it is impractical for me at the moment.
