NO RESERVE...TURBOCHARGED 1.8T...LEATHER...5 Speed M/T
2003 Volkswagen Jetta GLS Description
Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta GLS with the desirable 1.8L turbocharged engine and leather interior. I would rate the exterior of this Jetta to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking sedan. It is finished in Platinum Gray over Black leather interior. The finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. However, you'd be hard pressed to find anything worth complaining about as you walk around this Jetta. All of the trim and moldings are present and show well. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. All of the glass and lenses are intact. As you can see in the photos. the headlight lenses are showing some typical age-related hazing. The factory alloy wheels have a few curb marks but are acceptable for their age and are wrapped in a nice set of rubber with average tread all around. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. I would rate the interior of this Jetta to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean. As you can see, the headliner is beginning to sag a little from age. This is common. The power windows, locks, mirrors and sunroof all appear to be working properly. Both front seats are heated. The leather seats are soft, supple and show no excessive wear for their age. The climate control system is original. You'll need a new little resistor clip (nothing major) for the blower fan to work on all speeds. Until you replace the resistor, it will only work on high. The heater works very well and the air conditioner will need charged or serviced as it DOES NOT blow cold air. The audio system is original and sounds good. The trunk is spacious and clean. A full set of original owner's books are included. Mechanically, this Jetta appears to be in good running and driving condition...with a few basic service items being required. The 1.8L turbocharged engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners leave a little to be desired. While the suspension itself (springs and shocks) feel good, the rubber bushings under the car (control arms, end links, etc.) are badly worn and will need to be replaced in the very near future. On smooth surfaces, the car drives straight and smooth. Over rough surfaces or bumps, it gets a little interesting. That being said, I personally drove this Jetta 85 miles back to my warehouse and survived...so you should be fine to drive it where you need to go...just know that you'll need to take care of that soon. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. The turbo spools up quickly and adds noticeable power. There have been no idiot lights on during my road test. The clutch engages smoothly and does not slip or chatter. Gear changes through the desirable five speed manual transmission are smooth but you can tell that the linkage is out of adjustment as 3rd and 5th are sometimes tricky. I've had the car through all five gears and the transmission itself it perfectly fine...no issues there. Out on the highway, she cruises easily with no complaints. With just 159k miles, this Jetta is barely broken in. A few months ago, I sold an Audi A4 with the 1.8T engine to a friend's brother. It had 319k miles on it when I sold it. He just came by with it yesterday and it now has 330k on it. If you take care of these cars, they WILL last. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
